Oramas, who was released by the Blue Jays on Tuesday, plans to play professionally in Mexico, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old Mexican lefty was designated for assignment over the weekend, and he's apparently decided to pitch in his native country. If he fares well in the Mexican League, Oramas could take another crack at MLB next season. He reached the Triple-A level for the first time in 2014, posting a 5.61 ERA, 5.08 FIP, 7.6 K/9 and 3.7 BB/9.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2015
2013
The Padres first added Oramas to their 40-man roster in November of 2011, needing to protect him from the Rule 5 draft at the conclusion of his fifth minor league season. As fate would have it, Oramas fell victim to Tommy John surgery in the season that followed and was non-tendered the following winter. Patience and perseverance paid off for the lefty, as he was then added back onto the 40-man in 2013 after posting a 2.87 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 79:18 K:BB in 14 starts between rookie ball and Double-A San Antonio upon his return. The next chapter wasn't quite as uplifting. Oramas struggled to a 4.75 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 116:51 K:BB in 27 appearances (25 starts) between San Antonio and Triple-A El Paso in 2014, with ERAs above 5.00 in all but one month with El Paso. It was a discouraging step back, but Oramas' elbow held up to the 136.1-inning workload and there's still some hope that he can put it together in his second turn at the Triple-A level in 2015.
In 2012 Oramas made eight starts in Double-A San Antonio before he suffered ligament damage in his left elbow that needed Tommy John surgery to repair. He had the surgery in early June, so the hope is that he can be ready by the middle of the 2013 season. In 2011, he spent almost the full season at Double-A San Antonio pitching 104.2 innings with a 3.10 ERA as he showed great command of his pitches.
