March 8, 2017
Barrios (shoulder) was reassigned to minor-league camp Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
This comes as no surprise, as the fireballer is still in the midst of recovering from the shoulder surgery he underwent last April. Barrios expects to be out for another month or so, but he could push for a major league bullpen spot if he can get back to his previous form.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
Barrios missed the entirety of the 2016 season after he required surgery to repair his rotator cuff. Still, the Brewers liked what they saw in 2015 well enough to invite him to major league spring training in 2017. A converted infielder -- 2015 was Barrios' first season as a pitcher -- he dominated at Double-A, with a 1.46 ERA in 20 appearances. The 5-foot-10 righty has a mid-90s fastball and is working on a slider and changeup. Considering how little experience Barrios has and the fact that he missed valuable time in 2016, he'll have to show up big time in spring training to make the squad.
Barrios, a converted infielder, fared reasonably well in his first professional season as a pitcher. After being acquired by the Brewers in June and sent to Double-A Biloxi, he posted a 3.15 ERA with six saves, which led to a late-September promotion. He performed well during his time with the Brewers, tossing 6.2 scoreless innings. His 31.8% K-rate in that brief run with Milwaukee dwarfed his K-rates in the minors, so it remains to be seen how real that spike was. Depending on injuries and the performance of veterans on the major league club, Barrios could see some time in the bullpen for the Brewers this year if he can pick up where he left off at the end of 2015.
