Past Fantasy Outlooks
2005

2003
Announced his retirement in March of 2005.
The once-great Alomar has little left in the tank, posting nearly identically poor half seasons with the Mets (.693 OPS) and White Sox (.670 OPS). He could still be effective in a platoon (he hit nearly 100 points higher against righties); we'll have to see in the spring if the D-Backs plan to play Alomar every day at second base.
Alomar had an awful year in 2002, hitting just .266, matching his career low when he was a rookie in 1988 with the Padres. He also had just 11 HR and 53 RBI, his worst power numbers since 1994 with the Blue Jays. Was last year an aberration, or a harbinger of things to come? Alomar will be 35 in February, and time may have caught up with him. The Mets desperately need him to bounce back in 2003, but don't bet on it.
