Past Fantasy Outlooks
2004
2003
Coming off a torn labrum in his pitching shoulder, Bere was signed to a minor league deal in November with the opportunity to compete for a job come spring. If he has a role, it will likely be out of the pen or a starter in Triple-A Buffalo.
A groin injury sidelined Bere for the last half of 2002, and it was probably for the best as Bere had a 1-10 record and a 5.67 ERA at that point. Bere will be 32 next May, and while his decent 2001 season (175K, 1.32 WHIP) is still cause for some hope, it stands as a lone bright spot in the eight seasons since his arm injury. The Indians will give him a rotation spot in 2003.
