Depth OF who's never been able to stick, even on a major league bench.
Romano missed half the season with a gruesome hamstring tear. He'll be ready for spring training, but the larger issue is his overall likelihood of making the Reds out of spring training. His best chance will come if the Austin Kearns experiment at third base works out.
Romano bounced up and down between Los Angeles and Las Vegas but did not make much of an impact offensively with the big-league club. He is still only 24 and could battle his way on to the team's bench if he can impress with the bat.
Romano's versatility gives him a shot at going north with the Rockies, which might be good enough to eventually give him a chance to start at second base.
