ANALYSIS
Yeah, an 8.05 ERA in Triple-A will do that for a guy. Next up on the chopping block: Ramon Ortiz? Charlie Haeger?

Towers once again floundered in a long relief/spot starter role for Toronto in 2007. He could have had minimal value if he ended up playing in a friendly home park in 2008, but Towers signed with the Rockies in January and will compete for the No. 5 starter's job or a long-relief spot in the bullpen during spring training.
Towers once again earned the nickname "Faulty" in 2006, bouncing up and down from the minors after signing a two-year deal in the offseason. His 15 appearances with Toronto were forgettable. With less-than-dominating stuff, he walks a fine line between success and failure. He'll be a back-of-the-rotation option for the Blue Jays after they failed to land either Ted Lilly or Gil Meche via free agency.
Towers ended up making 33 starts for Toronto's injury-ravaged rotation and was rewarded with a spiffy two-year contract. Considering the low strikeout rate and how hittable he is, Towers will have to maintain that miniscule walk rate to continue his success. Remember, this is the same guy who bounced between the majors and minors for years before settling in this past season.
Towers was beaten around the yard pretty good in 2004 after posting an 8-1 record the year before. He cleared waivers in April when Justin Miller was healthy, but found his way back to the majors when injuries hit and ended up making 21 starts, nearly half of them against Tampa Bay and Baltimore. He's rotation depth when injuries hit and little else.
Towers, a strike-throwing machine, posted seven wins and a save in 10 appearances after being called-up following injuries to Pete Walker and Cory Lidle. He yields a homer every fifth inning, but his success down the stretch earned him a rotation spot as Toronto planned for 2004.
A disastrous year spent between Triple-A and the big leagues, having gone the entire season without a win. Has faced the stigma of not throwing hard enough to have success in the big leagues, and earned the nickname of “Faulty” Towers based on his efforts in 2002. Elbow soreness didn't help him, and he's been invited to spring training by the Blue Jays who signed him to a minor-league deal.
