After pitching well at Double-A in 2002, Smyth struggled badly both at Triple-A and also in the majors last season. At Iowa, he had an abysmal 98/72 K/BB ratio in 130 IP to go along with a 5.23 ERA and 1.645 WHIP. Smyth has decent stuff - low-90s fastball, a slider, a cutter and a changeup, but until he displays some command at Triple-A, his next major league callup doesn't figure to come any time soon.

Smyth pitched well at Double-A last year, but struggled at both Triple-A and the majors. Smyth has pretty good stuff - low-90s fastball, a slider, a cutter and a changeup, and despite his poor big-league debut, could wind up in the mix sometime in 2003.
