Past Fantasy Outlooks
2005
2004
2003
Duncan, who was a feel-good story for a few weeks in 2003 when he was promoted from Triple-A, has seen his star rapidly fall to the point where he was demoted to Double-A last season. He has good speed and has shown the ability to draw a walk but his inability to progress at the plate has doomed his career and it's unlikely that he will get another shot at the majors, except as a late-inning defensive replacement.
Duncan got off to a blazing start when called up from Double-A, but as soon as pitchers started to pound him inside, he descended (13-for-next-104) as quickly as he ascended (14-for first-35). Duncan is probably the Mets' best defensive OF and does a good job in terms of drawing walks and using his speed, but unless he shows the ability to handle the bat, he will be relegated to being a 4th outfielder or late-inning defensive replacement.
