Gimenez signed a minor league deal with the Brewers on Wednesday and will report to Double-A Huntsville, Andrew Gruman of FOX Sports Wisconsin reports.
ANALYSIS
Acting as organizational depth, Gimenez isn't close to a major league gig, especially with All-Star Jonathan Lucroy playing nearly everyday. Now in his third organization this season, Gimenez brings along a .177/.260/.292 line with three homers in 113 at-bats between three minor league affiliates.

Gimenez played in five late-season games for the White Sox in 2012, which brought his career MLB game total to 11 since 2006. He has had three consecutive double-digit home run campaigns in the minors, but that could be more a function of experience than power potential. Gimenez can handle a pitching staff, and he could be the White Sox's No. 2 catcher in 2013 behind Tyler Flowers barring an offseason transaction to bolster the team's depth at the position.
Gimenez hit .273/.331/.389 at Triple-A Round Rock last season. His defensive ability is going to get him to the majors, however, as he has a plus arm, quick release, and above-average receiving skills. He likes to take chances and try to pick baserunners off, and has the arm and accuracy to do so. He'll likely start the year with the Express, but could be called up during the season.
The marginal catching prospect repeated Double-A, improving without doing anything impressive. Glove rep will get him to the majors in '07, but his future is as a backup.
Gimenez is more advanced defensively than fellow Astros catching prospect John Buck, particularly in his throwing ability. His bat needs a lot of work still, however - at least two more years of seasoning in the minors.
