Wandy Rodriguez v CIN - Rodriguez may have had a rocky start to 2010, but he should end the season in strong fashion. The Reds may be resting on their laurels a bit in this one with the division in hand and several of their players battling nagging injuries. Even when healthy, their current crew only has a collective .220 batting average against Rodriguez, and he has struck them out 75 times (to 18 walks) in 227 at-bats. He struck out 10 Reds in six innings in a September 17 start, and he one-hit them over seven frames July 25.

Jeff Suppan v Pirates – Picking up Suppan for his Tuesday start against the Pirates could cosmetically look like a strategic play in a league where the wins are tight. But such players should just say "no" to the Suppan, who has yielded a career .995 OPS to the current crop of Pirates batters. That's right, their hitters have nearly a collective 1.000 against him in 131 at-bats, and several batters (Ronny Cedeno, Ryan Doumit, Chris Snyder, Brandon Moss and Andrew McCutchen) have gone above the 1.000 OPS mark in more than 10 at-bats each.

Recommended Pickup

Craig Breslow, P, OAK - Need a few waiver wire saves before the end of the year? Look no further than Mr. Breslow, who should assume closing duties for the A's with Andrew Bailey done for the season. The A's face the Angels and Mariners this week – both series could present save chances for Breslow. He has not allowed a run over his last 9.1 innings, and he has only yielded two hits over that stretch.

Other recent recommendations:Wade Davis, Wilson Betemit, Travis Wood, James McDonald, Evan Meek
