The Daily Puck: The Price is Right

This article is part of our The Daily Puck series.

Around the Rink

Montreal goalie Carey Price returned Tuesday after missing the last week. He stopped 40 of 41 shots in a win. The Habs will go as far as Price takes them in the playoffs. Can he pull a Halak?

Antti Niemi just pulled in a $15 million extension. Wasn't he battling Antero Niittymaki just to get on the ice a few months ago? Funny what a 16-1-2 stretch can do for a team and its goalie.

Ovechtrick, Ovechtrick, Ovechtrick has a league-leading nine game-winning goals among his abnormally low total of 25.

The Caps have pretty high expectations of Jason Arnott and Marco Sturm, but Dennis Wideman totaled nearly 27 minutes of ice (26:44) Tuesday and could really boost Washington's defensive corps with Mike Green ailing. Check your waiver wire for his availability (if you haven't already).

Pittsburgh is healthier than it's been since January and it's still missing seven or eight forwards (and Brooks Orpik). The Islanders have no sympathy.

Jamie Benn tallied his first goal since January on Tuesday after missing time with a head or shoulder injury. Maybe he could get a shampoo contract.

Who's Hot

Tuukka Rask - Panned recently in this column, Rask has won four straight with a shutout during a stunning six-game Boston road trip. Didn't see that coming.

Who's Not

Ben Bishop - Bishop was plenty of fantasy owners' darling a couple seasons ago and it looked like we might fall in love with him all over again

Ben Bishop - Bishop was plenty of fantasy owners' darling a couple seasons ago and it looked like we might fall in love with him all over again - until he gave up five goals in 15 minutes Tuesday.

Recommended Pickup

Mark Letestu - Getting top line minutes with Alexei Kovalev and James Neal. Letestu is likely available on many a waiver wire and is worthy of a snag, given his current environs.
