Closer Watch

Mets – Jon Rauch was brought in to save R.A. Dickey's 20th win with a three-run lead Thursday, but after getting the last out in the eighth, he gave up a two-run homer in the ninth before being pulled for Bobby Parnell, who nailed down the final two outs. Rauch will most likely continue to get the first shot at save chances in the season's last week.

Brewers – John Axford blew a big game for Milwaukee on Thursday, striking out the first two batters he faced in the ninth before giving up a game-tying homer, a single and a triple to turn victory into defeat.

Recommended Pickup
Drew Smyly, SP, DET – At this point in the year, you're basically looking for streaming options, and Smyly makes a good one for Friday, as he's taking Max Scherzer's rotation spot for a start at pitcher-friendly Target Field. Smyly pitched a solid 4.1 innings, allowing just an unearned run on three hits, his last time against Minnesota.

Other Recent Recommendations: Chris Tillman, Brett Gardner, Jorge De La Rosa, Jake Odorizzi, Nate McLouth
