FanDuel MLB: Monday Picks

FanDuel MLB: Monday Picks

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitchers

Gerrit Cole, $9,000 - There are many nice options on the board tonight and taking Cole or Zack Greinke (at home) are the two nicest options. Max Scherzer has the "revenge factor" working in his favor but the road matchup against Arizona isn't favorable. Cole is coming off a bad outing and get the Phillies who aren't close to the team they once were. Cole registered only four strikeouts the last time out but had at least six strikeouts the last five starts to the season. He's a nice favorite who should register the win and get the extra four points that are critical to win on the Fanduel system.

Catcher

Salvador Perez, $2,700 - Perez is in the middle of a nice season, hitting .296 with four home runs and 18 RBI. He's going to start a series tonight in one of the better hitter's parks in the league and is at a nice discounted price. Colby Lewis has been home run prone in the past making Perez and even more attractive option.

First Base

Pedro Alvarez, $2,900 -Alvarez got a day of rest Sunday with the Pirates going up against a southpaw but should return to the middle of the lineup tonight. Jerome Williams sports an ERA north of 5.00 and is pitching in one of the better hitter's park in the National League. Alvarez is one of the few hitter's capable of hitting multiple home runs in a game and he should be able to hit one out in this series; hopefully tonight.

Second Base

Brandon Phillips, $2,800 -Phillips got off to a slow start this season and many wondered if Father Time had caught up to him. However, Phillips has turned things around and has been raking over the last 10 days. He has multi-hit games in six of his last 10 games and owns a .941 OPS over Shelby Miller. Phillips is a great option on a night short of games and viable options at the position.

Third Base

Evan Longoria, $3,900 - There have been many cheap options mentioned so it's time to pay up for a position. Longoria has 3 home runs in his last four games and has hit C.C. Sabathia to a tune of a 1.390 OPS over 58 at-bats. Even if you don't believe in BvP data, that should be a big enough sample to sway most of the disbelievers.

Shortstop

Marcus Semien, $2,900 - First it was Hector Gomez going off on Clayton Kershaw and then Semien went off on the Mariners and more specifically Felix Hernandez Sunday. Semien has shown himself to be a power/speed threat over the last two games with two home runs and two stolen bases. Semien is already up to a .307 batting average with five home runs, 14 RBI, 18 runs and six stolen bases. The shortstop is only 24 years-old and could be in the start of a breakout season. The price tag clearly doesn't match the production and the opportunity to take advantage of it won't last much longer.

Outfield

Ryan Braun, $4,000 - The other spot to look to pay up on this evening's slate is to roster Braun. He's recorded over five fantasy points on Fanduel in each of his last three games and has seen his price rise over the last week due to his improved fantasy production. Adding to his current hot streak, Braun has a nice history going against White Sox starter Jeff Samardzija going 9-for-18 with three home runs. In addition, Samardzija has struggled this season giving up five home runs in only 39 innings.

Delmon Young, $2,300 - Young has yet to find his power stroke this season recording only four doubles and no home runs. Buck Showalter still has him hitting in the heart of the Orioles lineup and Young has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games. He's hit two of those doubles in his last two game and he has a nice home matchup tonight against homer-prone Marco Estrada.

Chris Colabello, $2300 - It's tough to determine if Ubaldo Jimenez has turned a corner working under the tutelage of Ramon Martinez or if he's had some early season luck. In either way, he may have a tall order going against the Blue Jays and their newfound production in Colabello. The 31 year-old is batting .556 in a small sample and is only two years removed from being named International Player of the Year. He's a power hitter and it's notable that his last 39 home runs (724 plate appearances) in the minors were in the IL and not the hitter-friendly PCL.
