DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Matt Harvey, NYM vs. CIN ($10,400): Harvey has struggled mightily to open the season, but the Reds could be just the team to snap him back into form. Cincinnati is in the bottom 10 against righties and on the road, while striking out over 20 percent of the time in both spots. Harvey is actually allowing less hard contact over his first four starts than at any other point in his career, and he has surrendered just one home run over that span. Harvey's high price could get fantasy players some scarcity, and he should have an easier time picking up a win against opposing starter Jon Moscot.

Jose Berrios MIN vs. CLE ($6,900): Berrios is likely to be a popular play, but it's hard to turn down the 2012 first-round pick at this price. The Indians have handled righties fairly well this season, but they began Tuesday's action with a strikeout rate of 23 percent over 362 plate appearances. Berrios allowed just two earned runs while striking out 20 batters in 17 innings at Triple-A Rochester prior to getting the call.

CATCHER

Salvador Perez, KC at LAA ($3,600):Nick Tropeano has given up too much contact to right-handed hitters, resulting in a 4.93 xFIP. Perez could be a nice fit for an extreme fly-ball pitcher like Tropeano, as he carries a career 42 percent ground ball rate.

FIRST BASE

Lucas Duda, NYM vs. CIN ($4,100): Moscot enters with a 6.20 xFIP against left-handed pitching, despite carrying an almost certainly inflated 3.4 HR/9 rate. He has also walked more southpaws than he has struck out over 10.2 career innings.

SECOND BASE

Daniel Murphy, WAS vs. PHI ($4,100):Jeremy Hellickson's early season success seems like a distant memory, as he has allowed 10 runs (nine earned) over just 7.1 innings in his last two outings. Murphy has kept his foot on the gas after a hot start, tallying a .591 slugging percentage against right-handed pitchers.

THIRD BASE

Adrian Beltre, TEX vs. NYY ($4,600): Beltre is humming right along in his age-37 season, having tallied a .300 batting average and .500 slugging percentage over 21 games. CC Sabathia has yet to give up a home run to a right-handed hitter this season, but his 11.7 percent strikeout rate and 10 percent walk rate have resulted in a 5.64 xFIP against his opposite hand.

SHORTSTOP

Trevor Story, COL vs. PIT ($5,300): We will give Story another try against lefty Jon Niese. Story will put his excellent numbers against lefties and his extreme fly ball tendencies up against Niese's 48 percent ground ball rate and 1.8 HR/9 rate against righties this season.

OUTFIELD

Carlos Beltran, NYY at TEX ($3,800): Opposing starter Martin Perez is able to navigate his way through outings thanks to his ability to keep the ball in the yard, but one would expect the smoke to fade soon, as he has walked more hitters than he has struck out this season. Beltran has shown excellent power against lefties this season, slugging .512 against them over 43 at-bats.

Corey Dickerson, TB vs. BAL ($3,300): Those who were worried about Dickerson's move to the spacious confines of Minute Made Park have likely had their nerves calmed by his hot start to the season, posting a .556 slugging percentage over 63 at-bats. Chris Tillman has been hit hard by left-handed hitting this season, surrendering a .516 slugging percentage in 8.1 innings.

Stephen Piscotty, STL at ARI ($3,600): Piscotty has absolutely devoured left-handed pitching to open the year, keeping an ISO above .400 in seven games. He will be opposed by Patrick Corbin, who has surrendered five homers to righties in just 21 innings, while striking them out 12.6 percent of the time.

Other Options: Ian Desmond, TEX vs. NYY ($4,100): Oswaldo Arcia, MIN vs. CLE ($3,300) Brock Holt, BOS vs. ATL ($3,200)
