PITCHER
Jon Gray, COL at STL ($6,900): While Stephen Strasburg ($10,600) is enticing against a struggling Mets offense, Gray just offers too much upside to pass up at a fraction of the cost. The 24-year-old former top prospect has strung together three impressive outings in a row, and is boasting some impressive numbers (30.5 percent K rate to 5.9 percent walk rates) despite a deceivingly high 4.71 ERA; the result of two rough outings at Coors Field. Luckily, he's not pitching at home, and while the matchup with St. Louis isn't ideal, Gray offers high-end strikeout potential at a low cost, making him worth the risk on the road.
CATCHER
Brian McCann, NYY at OAK ($3,000):McCann's been solid for the Yanks again this season (.350 wOBA) and has been especially potent against right-handed pitching (.383 wOBA). He faces an atrocious right-hander in Kendall Graveman (5.84 ERA and 1.49 WHIP) and yet is still priced quite reasonably; take advantage.
FIRST BASE
C.J. Cron, LAA vs. LAD ($2,700): After a rough start to the season, Cron is heating up, posting a .391 wOBA this month. He has hit right-handed pitching slightly better than left-handers, and faces a struggling one in Ross Stripling, who's also displayed reverse splits this season (.341 allowed to right-handed bats). Add in a lineup spot behind Mike Trout and Albert Pujols, and Cron represents a strong upside play for a modest investment.
SECOND BASE
Daniel Murphy, WAS at NYM ($3,700): Murphy is priced just outside the top tier of second baseman - fourth-most expensive - yet the 31-year-old just continues to rake (.399 average, .447 wOBA). He's been particularly dominant against right-handed pitching (,445 wOBA .232 ISO), and he faces one in Matt Harvey, who's yet to find his groove this season (4.93 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) and has been significantly worse against left-handed hitters (.386 wOBA allowed). Even though the price may seem steep, Murphy is actually a bargain based on the matchup and his overall consistency.
THIRD BASE
Danny Valencia, OAK vs. NYY ($3,100): Valencia is sporting an insane .455 batting average and .616 wOBA in the nine games he's played since returning from the disabled list. Granted, Valencia is better against lefties than righties, but he faces a less-than-intimidating right-hander in Ivan Nova (4.44 K/9), and he is still priced so reasonably compared to the rest of the crop at third base.
SHORTSTOP
Francisco Lindor, CLE at CIN ($3,500): There's not a lot of shortstop value on the board, making Lindor the clear standout option. The 22-year-has been terrific in his sophomore campaign (.325 average, .348 wOBA) and faces a 28-year-old rookie in Tim Adleman. As only the seventh-most expensive shortstop available, Lindor presents a great bargain based on the matchup and his ceiling.
OUTFIELD:
Joc Pederson, LAD at LAA ($3,200): Pederson's played well in his second season (.387 wOBA, .298 ISO) and has been especially devastating against right-handed pitchers (.413 wOBA, .308 ISO). He faces one in Jhoulys Chacin who's had his share of struggles this season (4.81 ERA), yet Pederson's price is still insanely cheap considering his upside in this matchup.
Brett Gardner, NYY at OAK ($3,100): Let's get back to stacking against Graveman with a pair of Yankees left-handed hitting outfielders. Gardner has averaged 12.4 fantasy points per game over his last 10 and has handled right-handed pitching well this season, posting a .385 wOBA and .205 ISO.
Jacoby Ellsbury, NYY at OAK ($3,100): Everything said about Gardner applies to Ellsbury, except he's been even hotter lately (averaging 13.53 fantasy points per game over his last 10). With both outfielders priced so modestly, Ellsbury and Gardner make the perfect outfield pair to stack, especially considering it's a relatively minimal investment.
