PITCHER
Rubby De La Rosa, ARI at PIT ($7,600): The Pirates are the third-worst team in the league against the slider, a pitch De La Rosa throws nearly 28 percent of the time. They also hit just 31 percent fly balls, which should allow the 27-year-old to dictate the action with his heavy ground ball profile. De La Rosa had his last start skipped in order to tend to some nagging injuries, but the team made it clear that he would have pitched through if they did not have the luxury of days off.
Junior Guerra, MIL at ATL ($7,400): With his nice start as a 31-year-old rookie, Guerra has taught us the value of never giving up and believing in yourself and whatever. The Braves are either the first or second-worst team in the league depending on handedness and have the fourth-worst mark against the split-finger fastball, Guerra's most frequently used secondary pitch.
CATCHER
Welington Castillo, ARI at PIT ($3,600): Another reason to select De La Rosa is his likelihood of picking up a win against opposing starter Jeff Locke. Locke has allowed a .384 wOBA against right-handed hitters this season, while Castillo has kept a .463 ISO versus his opposite hand over 41 at-bats.
FIRST BASE
Chris Davis, BAL at HOU ($4,100):Collin McHugh can't seem to get straightened out, as he has surrendered a wOBA above .360 to both sides of the platoon this year. Davis has displayed his usual skill set of hitting homers and striking out, but he should be able to get comfortable in the box against McHugh, who is striking out lefties at just a 14 percent clip.
SECOND BASE
Steve Pearce, TB vs. MIA ($3,700): We will take advantage of position flexibility to give the lefty-masher another chance to feast. Justin Nicolino is sitting on an impossibly low four percent strikeout rate against right-handed hitters this season, while allowing a hard contact rate of over 40 percent.
THIRD BASE
Evan Longoria, TB vs. MIA ($5,000): Longoria has cooled off after a hot start to the season, but he has sustained impressive power regardless of which hand the pitcher uses. Nicolino's predilection for contact will suit Longoria well, as he has struck out 12 times while walking just twice in 47 at-bats against lefties.
SHORTSTOP
Zack Cozart, CIN at LAD ($3,500):Scott Kazmir continues to have issues with walks and homers this season, having allowed nine home runs to right-handed batters in 36.1 innings, while walking 14 over that span. Cozart has shown himself to be one of the better power hitters at his position, as evidenced by his .237 ISO against lefty pitchers.
OUTFIELD
Michael Saunders, TOR at NYY ($4,200):Ivan Nova has pitched reasonably well in his return to the starting rotation, but he is allowing far too much contact to be effective at Yankee Stadium in the long run. Saunders ranks 2.5 runs above average against the curveball, a pitch Nova throws more than 24 percent of the time.
Nelson Cruz, Sea vs. OAK ($5,200):Zach Neal tallied an impressive 2.53 ERA over 42.2 innings against Triple-A Nashville this season, but he has kept a below average strikeout rate throughout his professional career. This could mean a nice matchup for Cruz, who has notched a .900 OPS against finesse pitchers this year.
Marcell Ozuna, MIA at TB ($4,800): Speaking of pitchers who allow too much contact, Matt Andriese has struck out just 11 batters in 21.1 innings. Ozuna's numbers aren't quite as gaudy against same-handed pitchers as they are against lefties, but we will just have to survive with his .362 wOBA and .204 ISO over 137 at-bats.
