DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Jameson Taillon, PIT vs. NYM ($8,900): All of the top options leave something to be desired in terms of either matchup or price, so I am happy to take our shiny new toy out of the box. It's no secret that pitchers making their debuts in 2016 haven't fared all that well, but Taillon is worth a shot after showing impeccable control and an above-average strikeout rate through 61.2 innings at Triple-A Indianapolis. He will be facing a team that has registered the fifth-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching.

Wei-Yin Chen, MIA at MIN ($7,900): The Twins can offer salary relief whenever they are facing a left-handed pitcher, as they are the fifth-worst team against southpaws, according to wOBA. Chen isn't the most prolific pitcher in the league when it comes to strikeouts, but he could see a boost thanks to Minnesota's nearly 25 percent whiff rate.

CATCHER

Wilson Ramos, WAS at CWS ($4,000): The decision to bring opposing starter James Shields to the hitter-friendly confines of U.S. Cellular Field is a bit curious, as he has tallied a 5.16 ERA away from Petco Park. Ramos may lose a bit of his power edge when facing a right-hander, but he will still bring a wOBA of nearly .400 to the matchup.

FIRST BASE

Brandon Moss, STL at CIN ($4,100):Alfredo Simon is our top pitcher to stack against, as he will bring an ERA of almost 9.00 to Great American Ball Park. Brandon Moss is consistently among the league leaders in fly ball rate, and he should have a prime opportunity to succeed against Simon's extreme ground ball tendencies.

SECOND BASE

Jason Kipnis, CLE at SEA ($3,700): For all the fanfare that accompanies the electric stuff of Taijuan Walker, it's a bit surprising to see that he has allowed eight home runs to lefties over 33 innings. Kipnis will look to add to that total when he brings his .193 ISO against right-handed pitchers into the batters box.

THIRD BASE

Kyle Seager, SEA vs. CLE ($3,900):Carlos Carrasco has had a hard time keeping the ball in the park against lefties this season, allowing three homers in 13.1 innings. Seager has been something of a righty specialist this year, notching a .259 ISO over 139 at-bats.

SHORTSTOP

Aledmys Diaz, STL at CIN ($4,400): Diaz has kept a significant reverse split this season, including a .243 ISO. Simon should have an especially difficult time against the barrage of righty bats that St. Louis has to offer if he pitches anywhere close to his 6.56 xFIP.

OUTFIELD

Carlos Beltran, NYY vs. LAA ($4,300): After all he has done as a member of the organization, the Angels can do nothing else but allow Jered Weaver and his 5.18 ERA to return to the mound every fifth day. Beltran and his .284 ISO against righties will look to capitalize on Weaver's extreme fly ball rate in one of the league's most homer-friendly parks.

Ryan Braun, MIL vs. OAK ($4,800):Jesse Hahn may not be the best candidate to pitch in a place like Miller Park, as he has struck out just 11 percent of batters faced this year. Hahn attempts to keep teams at bay with his curveball, but he may not have much success against Braun, who rates 2.5 runs above average against the pitch in 2016.

Nomar Mazara, TEX vs. HOU ($4,000): Mazara should be used against all righties as long as he is sporting a .231 ISO. He could be especially valuable against Doug Fister, as the right-hander comes in having allowed a .383 wOBA against lefty hitters.

Other options: Matt Holliday, STL at CIN ($4,600) Bryce Harper, WAS at CWS ($4,600) Christian Yelich, MIA at MIN ($4,300)
