FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Adam Wainwright, STL vs. MIL ($8,300): There's no shortage of options on the bump Saturday, as five pitchers check in at $9,900 or higher with three aces eclipsing $11,000. But if you're looking to save some coin, Wainwright could be an option. Despite allowing nine runs over his last two starts, Wainwright has struck out 11 in 11.2 innings. Wainwright also owns a .234 batting average against current Brewers, paired with a 21.1 percent strikeout rate.

Catcher

Ramon Cabrera, CIN at WAS ($2,000): After Friday's game went 14 inning, Cabrera seems likely to start behind the dish. That's essentially the appeal, as Cabrera offers little more than three at-bats. He has hit safely in five of his last six games with at least three at-bats, meaning he likely won't give you a zero while allowing plenty of cap space to seek out a top arm.

First Base

Kendrys Morales, KAN at PHI ($3,900): It's unfortunate that Morales' price has skyrocketed, but he still appears to be a worthwhile purchase. Seven players check in at equal or higher value, but Morales came into Friday with 16 hits in his last 24 at-bats. He'll take that hot stick into an outing with young Aaron Nola, who has not lasted four innings in any of his last four starts while allowing at least four runs in each outing.

Second Base

Devon Travis, TOR vs CLE ($2,800): Searching my archives will prove Travis is a weekly staple for me and he's making me look smart of late, owning an eight-game hitting streak that includes four multi-hit outings. Adding to the appeal is the ambiguity over the Indians' starter. Trevor Bauer was slated to start, but threw 83 pitches Friday on three days rest in a 19-inning marathon. An exhausted staff should lead to plenty of hittable pitches Saturday.

Third Base

Jake Lamb, ARI vs SFG ($3,300): Lamb has not slowed down, having hit three bombs in each of his last three games, and he currently owns a .419 wOBP and a 1009 OPS against right-handed pitchers. That's what awaits him Saturday in the form of Giants' starter Jeff Samardzija, who has allowed seven home runs and a wOBP of .333 to left-handers to date.

Shortstop

Troy Tulowitzki, TOR vs. CLE ($3,000): Stacking a potent offense against what will likely be a patchwork pitching staff makes some sense. Tulowitzki has hit safely in eight of 10 games since returning to action, going deep three times.

Outfield

Nelson Cruz, SEA vs. BAL ($3,500): Cruz entered Friday with 10 hits in his last 10 games, seven of which went for extra bases. He sports a team-high 910 OPS and .254 ISO against righties. He'll square off against Tyler Wilson, who has allowed eight runs in his last two starts and at least five in four of his last five outings, seemingly making all Mariners worth a look.

Cameron Maybin, DET at TAM ($3,300): Maybin was riding a six-game hitting streak into Friday night's contest, collecting 11 hits during that span. He'll carry a team-high wOBP of .446 against lefties into Saturday's showdown against rookie Blake Snell, who has allowed at least seven hits in each of his three career starts.

Matt Kemp, SDP vs. NYY ($3,000): Kemp's power drought continues, as he's gone long just once since June 14. But he'll square off against Ivan Nova, who has allowed at least one home run in 10 straight outings.
