DraftKings MLB: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Jerad Eickhoff, PHI vs. ATL ($8,400): A pitcher of Eickhoff's caliber doesn't come reasonably priced against the Braves very often, making this a rare opportunity to exploit a fantastic matchup and still afford some top-dollar offense. Eickhoff should see nice results with his curveball, as the Braves are the second-worst team in the league against the pitch according to runs above average.

Tyler Anderson, COL at SF ($8,200): We have been conditioned to disregard most Colorado pitchers, but it's time to take a serious look at Anderson, as he holds a 2.66 ERA, 60 percent ground ball rate and 24 strikeouts over 23.2 innings (four starts). That penchant for grounders should be a major asset against the Giants, as they hold the fifth-lowest fly ball rate in the league this season.

CATCHER

Evan Gattis, HOU vs. SEA ($3,700):Wade Miley provided us with a nice return last week, as he allowed five runs in four innings against the Pirates. Miley's lack of strikeouts and homer problems should make him a prime target for Gattis, who has notched a .270 ISO in 74 at-bats against lefties this year.

FIRST BASE

Jose Abreu, CWS vs. NYY ($3,500): Abreu finally showed what he is capable of last month, notching five home runs and a .531 slugging percentage over 98 at-bats. He looks to have a good chance to continue mashing against CC Sabathia based on his success against the cutter, a pitch the aging southpaw has thrown 31 percent of the time this season.

SECOND BASE

Javier Baez, CHC vs. CIN ($3,800): Opposing starter Cody Reed has been able to get strikeouts from both sides of the platoon, but he has allowed five homers to righties in just 13.1 innings. Baez has become an absolute weapon against left-handed pitchers over 54 at-bats this season, notching a 1.009 OPS with a .241 ISO.

THIRD BASE

Travis Shaw, BOS vs. TEX ($3,800):Nick Martinez avoided disaster despite a 2:5 K:BB ratio in his last start against the Yankees, but it'll likely be a bit harder to pull off the same trick against the Red Sox. Despite his struggles in June, Shaw still holds a respectable .288/.361/.482 batting line with a .194 ISO against right-handed pitching.

SHORTSTOP

Didi Gregorius, NYY at CWS ($3,900): A light-hitting shortstop by trade, Gregorius flexed his muscle in June, notching a .903 OPS and .198 ISO in 101 at-bats. A solid outing from James Shields last week won't stop us from trying to get fat off him once again, as he still holds an 11 percent walk rate and 4.41 xFIP against left-handed batters.

OUTFIELD

George Springer, HOU vs. SEA ($4,900): While there is no shortage of right-handed bats to try and take advantage of Miley, Springer should have a bit of an edge, as he is the 11th-best hitter in the league against the changeup. Springer has been remarkably consistent this season, logging the same wOBA (.354) against left and right-handers.

Mike Trout, LAA at TB ($5,200): Trout has logged an OPS over 1.000 for the past two months, and he has kept an ISO over .240 in each month over that span. Matt Moore now features fairly average strikeout numbers, and he has surrendered 13 home runs to right-handed hitters over 71.2 innings.

Yoenis Cespedes, NYM vs. MIA ($4,400):Tom Koehler's lack of command has become something to behold, as he has walked at least five batters in five starts this season. Cespedes is one of the best hitters in the league against the curveball, a pitch Koehler throws nearly 21 percent of the time.

Other options: Jackie Bradley Jr., BOS vs. TEX ($5,100); Kris Bryant, CHC vs. CIN ($5,300); Stephen Piscotty, STL vs. PIT ($4,300)
