PITCHER
Tanner Roark, WAS vs. SD ($10,500): Roark is coming off a start in which he totaled 27.8 fantasy points against the Pirates on the strength of eight scoreless frames, and he now draws a Padres team that has the second-lowest wOBA in the majors (.288) against right-handed pitching while also striking out against them at a 24.6 percent clip (second-highest in baseball). Roark brings plenty of upside as evidenced by both his last outing and a pair of 29-fantasy point efforts in his last 10 starts, and he is averaging 20.3 fantasy points in home starts this season.
Gerrit Cole, PIT vs. PHI ($7,400): Cole had a rough go of it in his first start back from injury against the Nationals on July 16, but he now finds himself against a Phillies squad that's down there with the Padres as one of the weakest in the majors against righties. Philadelphia sports a lackluster .295 wOBA against right-handed pitching and has struck out 21.4 percent of the time against that handedness as well. Cole brings a ceiling well in excess of 30 fantasy points, as he demonstrated in a start against the Cubs on May 15, and he figures to look like a different pitcher in his second start back.
CATCHER
Sandy Leon, BOS vs. MIN ($3,100): It's a bit surprising to find Leon at this price given his rather amazing tear, so we'll certainly look to take advantage. Not only did he put together his third game with at least 20 fantasy points in the last 10 on Wednesday versus the Giants, but he'll be up against a pitcher in Kyle Gibson who's surrendered a .362 wOBA to left-handed hitters and .359 wOBA on the road this season. Additionally, Gibson has a 5.09 ERA and allowing a .353 wOBA over three July starts. Leon has a .438 wOBA against righty arms, along with a 44.8 percent hard contact rate.
FIRST BASE
Eric Hosmer, KC vs. TEX ($2,600) Hosmer's price continues to drop, so I'm nabbing him in this spot and exploiting the flexibility that it provides elsewhere. It's not often you can grab an All-Star well under $3K, especially one who's mashed right-handed pitching to the tune of a .360 wOBA and 40.2 percent hard contact rate. He's been even better against them at home, where he's tallied a .409 wOBA and massive 49.5 percent hard contact, and where he's hit five of his seven homers on the season against that handedness. Rangers starter Yu Darvish is certainly no pushover, but he has yielded a .381 wOBA to lefty bats on the road over a limited sample this season, along with a 75 percent hard contact rate that while obviously skewed by the small sample, is still noteworthy.
SECOND BASE
Daniel Murphy, WAS vs. SD ($4,900): Murphy is one of those players that bargains like Hosmer and Leon help us afford. He's also one of two Nationals lefty bats that I'm looking to roll out against Padres starter Luis Perdomo, who's given up a .396 wOBA and eight of his 11 homers on the season to left-handed hitters. He's struggled against that handedness even more away from pitcher-friendly Petco Park, as his road wOBA allowed stands at .474 and the hard contact rate at 41.1 percent. Murphy boasts a .431 wOBA, along with an almost identical 41.9 percent hard contact rate against righty arms, while smacking 13 of his 18 homers on the season against them. To top it off, Murphy is swinging a scorching bat, with six games with double-digit fantasy points in his last 10, and a .441 wOBA in July over 56 plate appearances.
THIRD BASE
Evan Longoria, TB at OAK ($4,900): Longoria has battered left-handed pitching to the tune of a .373 wOBA and .234 ISO, along with a 43.3 percent hard contact rate when facing them on the road. He's also just one game removed from a four-game stretch with double-digit fantasy points. Meanwhile, right-handed bats have been A's starter Sean Manaea's Achilles' heel, with the southpaw surrendering a .350 wOBA and nine of his 11 homers on the season to them.
SHORTSTOP
Jordy Mercer, PIT vs. PHI ($3,000): Mercer is in the lead-off spot Friday and also brings a .337 wOBA against right-handers at home, and a .406 wOBA and .228 ISO in July. Phillies starter Zach Eflin has been solid, but has given up a .328 wOBA to right-handed bats that rises significantly to .397 when facing them on the road.
OUTFIELD
Kris Bryant, CHC at MIL ($4,900): I want to take at least one crack at Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson at Miller Park, and Bryant is certainly as good a way to do that as there is on the Cubs. He has a .382 wOBA, .249 ISO and 40.5 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching, with those figures rising to .434, .313 and 44.6 percent, respectively, when facing them away from Wrigley Frield. Bryant also has a .418 wOBA in July, and Nelson has surrendered eight of his 12 homers on the season at home.
Bryce Harper, WAS vs. SD ($5,100): We detailed Luis Perdomo's struggles against left-handed bats in Murphy's entry, and what better way to also capitalize on this weakness within the Nationals' lineup than Harper? He has a .378 wOBA, .231 ISO, 33.9 percent hard contact rate and 15 of his 20 homers against right-handed pitching, and an even better .246 ISO against them at home.
Marcell Ozuna, MIA vs. NYM ($3,500): Ozuna is yet another underpriced value considering both his upside and Mets starter Logan Verrett's struggles against righty bats. Verrett has yielded a .388 wOBA against right-handed hitters that rises to .422 when facing them away from Citi Field, and he has given up seven of his 10 homers on the season to them as well. Ozuna has a solid .342 wOBA against right-handed pitching, along with a 33.2 percent hard contact rate.
