DraftKings MLB: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Dallas Keuchel, HOU vs. NYY ($8,000): Keuchel seems to have finally rediscovered his 2015 form, as he has allowed more than two earned runs just once in his last six starts. The 28-year-old will look to continue that run of success in a matchup against the Yankees, who are a bottom-five team against left-handed pitching. Keuchel should also see a significant advantage from his heavy ground-ball profile, as the Bombers have just a 33 percent fly ball rate this season.

Ian Kennedy, KC vs. LAA ($7,300): Kennedy has been hurt by the long ball this season, but he will face a team whose .140 ISO is the fifth-worst mark in the league against right-handed pitchers. Kennedy has performed far better at home, notching a 31 percent strikeout rate and 3.38 ERA over 42.2 innings. If he can keep the ball in the park, Kennedy could turn out to be a tremendous value play, as he has struck out at least eight batters three times in his last five starts.

CATCHER

Robinson Chirinos, TEX vs. OAK ($3,700): Chirinos has been more miss than hit this season, but we need to start taking notice of his hits, as they tend to go a long way. 12 of Chirinos' 18 hits this year have gone for extra bases, resulting in a .318 ISO over 33 games. Daniel Mengden is a talented young arm, but his control tends to desert him, which has lead to some rough outings, and he comes in with a 4.66 xFIP against right-handed hitters.

FIRST BASE

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI at MIL ($4,700): Opposing starter Chase Anderson is being blasted by righties this season, as evidenced by his 2.4 HR/9 and 43 percent hard contact rate. Goldschmidt has notched a .209 ISO against same-handed pitchers this season, hitting 13 of his 16 homers from the right side of the plate.

SECOND BASE

Devon Travis, TOR vs. SD ($4,100): Travis has been a force against right-handed pitching this season, tallying a .387 wOBA and .222 ISO over 117 at-bats. Colin Rea has not fared well away from the pitcher-friendly environment of Petco Park, as a .544 slugging percentage against has led to 5.59 ERA in 37 innings.

THIRD BASE

Nolan Arenado, COL at BAL ($4,700): As strange as it sounds, we may actually be getting a discount on Arenado, as he is not quite as good away from Coors Field. Luckily, the first stop on the round trip still puts him in a decent hitters park. Arenado has kept a .292 ISO against right-handers overall, and rates four runs above average against the slider, a pitch Yovani Gallardo throws 30 percent of the time.

SHORTSTOP

Marcus Semien, OAK at TEX ($4,800): The regression fairy has finally visited Martin Perez, as he has allowed 24 runs (19 earned) over his last three starts. Perez is fortunate if he strikes out more batters than he walks on most nights, which should make him a prime target for someone like Semien, who sports a hefty .344 ISO against left-handed pitching.

OUTFIELD

Mark Trumbo, BAL vs. COL ($4,700):Jorge De La Rosa may be one of the few pitchers on the planet who actually prefers Coors Field, as he holds a remarkable 7.43 ERA in 36.1 innings on the road this year. Trumbo's 44 percent fly ball rate should match up well against De La Rosa, who keeps the ball on the ground at a 48 percent clip.

Jay Bruce, CIN at SF ($4,500):Jake Peavy has grown beyond the dumpster fire that was his April, but he still holds a 5.65 xFIP against left-handed batters through 19 starts. Bruce has actually been better on the road this season, tallying a .372 wOBA.

Kendrys Morales, KC vs. LAA ($3,400): Morales is a sneaky option against left-handers, having maintained a .576 slugging percentage over 85 at-bats. Hector Santiago has shown flashes of brilliance, but he allows too many walks and homers against righties, resulting in a 5.18 xFIP.

Other options: Ryan Braun, MIL vs. ARI ($4,500); Adam Duvall, CIN at SF ($3,900); Michael Saunders, TOR vs. SD ($4,900)
