PITCHER
Tom Koehler, MIA at PIT ($7,400): Koehler has been pitching at a high level over the last month, sporting a 1.36 ERA and 0.76 WHIP (five starts, 33 innings). He has seen a uptick in strikeouts this season (7.24/9) but the real key to his success has been his ability to keep the ball in the park (0.74HR/9IP). The Pirates have the 11th-worst wOBA (.313) against right-handed pitching and strike out 21.1 percent of the time, putting them around league average. Koehler is one of the few pitchers who is mid-priced but doesn't have the fleas attached to him the others in his price range do.
CATCHER
Gary Sanchez, NYY at LAA ($2,700): Sanchez is starting to put together an end-of-the-season run that will make Yankees fans think of Shane Spencer. Sanchez is batting a whopping .360 (1.116 OPS) and has hit right-handed pitching (.536 wOBA) much harder than left-handers. He's gets a prime matchup against Jered Weaver and his flaming 82 mph fastball. Weaver has given up a .373 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season and has a 6.61 ERA and 1.90 WHIP over his last three starts.
FIRST BASE
Chris Carter, MIL at SEA ($3,400): This isn't the cheapest price, but there are 18 first basemen at this price or higher. Carter is one of the few bright spots for the Brewers, and he comes in with an .849 OPS over the last week. He's always hit southpaws well, and that trend has continued this season with a .412 wOBA. He'll now face off against Wade LeBlanc, who has given up a .370 wOBA to right-handed hitters, putting Ryan Braun in play as well.
SECOND BASE
Raul Mondesi, KC vs MIN ($2,700): Mondesi's bat has caught up to the speed of big league pitching, and he's making a case to get moved up from ninth in the batting order. He's scored at least 18.7 fantasy points in four of his last 10 games, including a home run off Justin Verlander. Jose Berrios toes the rubber for the Twins, and he has struggled in the majors, giving up more earned runs (28) than innings pitched (27).
THIRD BASE
Jake Lamb, ARI at SD ($3,200): Lamb's production has been down a little lately but it's the whole body of work for the season that puts him in consideration. He's been a fixture in the cleanup spot against right-handed pitching and for good reason, as he has a .400 wOBA against right-handed pitching and Petco Park has played nicely this season to left-handed batters. Jarred Cosart will face off against Lamb and he's given up a .365 wOBA to left-handed hitters at home.
SHORTSTOP
Tim Anderson, CHW vs OAK ($2,900): Anderson has been moved down in the batting order and the decreased pressure at the top seems to agree with him. Ever since getting a day off he's gotten on base safely in 10 straight games and has hit home runs in two of his last three games. The 72:7 K:BB ratio is a big worrisome but it's worth noting he's walked four times in his last seven games. Kendall Graveman isn't a pitcher to be worried about, as he's given up a .370 wOBA on the road this season.
OUTFIELD
Stephen Piscotty, STL at PHI ($3,500): Like Marcell Ozuna, Piscotty has developed this season into an automatic play whenever he's up against a left-handed pitcher not named Clayton Kershaw or Madison Bumgarner. Piscotty has a .423 wOBA against lefties this season and has scored 12.2, 18.7, 25.4 and 28.7 fantasy points in four of his last five games. Philadelphia plays as a good hitters' park and his opponent, Adam Morgan, has a 6.62 ERA and given up a .403 wOBA to righties on the season.
Franklin Gutierrez, SEA vs MIL ($2,700): It's going to be an interesting battle of southpaws in the Pacific Northwest as Brent Suter squares off against Wade LeBlanc. This seems like a game that could be high scoring given the two offenses, and while most will rightfully flock to Nelson Cruz ($3,900) they should not forget about Gutierrez, who has a .375 wOBA this season against lefties and a .362 mark for his career.
Alex Dickerson, SD vs ARI ($2,600): As mentioned, left-handed hitters have done well this season at Petco Park and Dickerson has made himself a staple at the cleanup spot for the Padres. He's had a bases-clearing double in his last game and had a 1.047 OPS at Triple-A before his call-up. Zack Greinke has been a shell of his former self and was torched for nine earned runs, including three homers, in 1.2 innings his last time out, coming off the DL.
