Yahoo DFS Baseball: Thursday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

PITCHER

Drew Pomeranz BOS at TB ($46): Pomeranz has scored 16 to 28 fantasy points in his last four starts as he's started to settle in with the Red Sox. He draws a Rays squad that struggles to make contact against lefties (demonstrated most recently by Pomeranz's teammate David Price's domination of them earlier in the week), striking out at a league-high 25.6 percent clip against southpaws, while also producing a mediocre .310 wOBA.

Matt Moore, SF at LAD ($34):
Moore is still seeking his first victory with the Giants and actually draws a deceptively good matchup with which to potentially accomplish it in the form of the Dodgers, who are a notably different offense when facing southpaws. They sport the third-lowest wOBA (.291) against left-handers, along with a 21.1 percent strikeout rate. Moore brings an upside north of 20 fantasy points and has pitched fairly well in San Francisco, despite his lack of wins.

CATCHER

Wilson Ramos, WAS vs. BAL ($19): Ramos is the first of two potent Nationals bat to target against Orioles starter Ubaldo Jimenez, who has a .364 wOBA against right-handed hitters on the road. Ramos boasts a .372 wOBA against righty arms at Nationals Park, along with a 36.1 percent hard-contact rate and 19.4 percent HR/FB rate.

FIRST BASE

Victor Martinez, DET at MIN ($16): Martinez is the first of a Tigers' three-man stack against Twins starter Jose Berrios that won't break your bank. Berrios gives up an absurd .502 wOBA at Target Field to left-handed hitters, along with a 42.9 percent hard-contact rate. The switch-hitting Martinez has touched up right-handed pitching on the road with a .399 wOBA, .215 ISO and 40.7 percent hard-contact rate.

SECOND BASE

Rougned Odor, TEX vs. CLE ($17): Indians starter Josh Tomlin sports a bloated 2.41 HR/9 rate against lefty hitters on the road with a .337 wOBA and massive 46.3 percent hard-contact rate. Odor has a .346 wOBA and .236 ISO against right-handed pitching at Globe Life Park, with 17 homers against righties overall.

THIRD BASE

Jake Lamb, ARI vs. ATL ($10): Lamb appears to have re-gained his stroke the last couple of nights, with double-digit fantasy points in each of those games and a two-run homer Wednesday. He offers the chance for a potentially stellar return on a near-minimum price, bringing a .420 wOBA and .352 ISO at Chase Field against right-handed pitching into Thursday's matchup against Matt Wisler. Wisler has given up a .337 wOBA and 5.37 xFIP to lefty bats, along with a 37.6 percent hard-contact rate.

SHORTSTOP

Erick Aybar, DET at MIN ($13): Aybar makes for another cost-effective switch-hitting option against Jose Berrios, whose considerable struggles against left-handed hitters at home were documented earlier. Aybar has double-digit fantasy points in two of his last three games and a .301 average and .334 wOBA over his last 19 games.

OUTFIELD

Bryce Harper, WAS vs. BAL ($22): Harper makes for a sky-high upside tournament play against Ubaldo Jimenez, who yields a .408 wOBA and .573 slugging percentage to lefty bats on the road, with a 39 percent hard-contact rate and 5.52 xFIP. Harper boasts a .370 wOBA and .210 ISO against right-handed pitching, with 17 homers and a 33.3 percent hard-contact rate.

Ian Desmond, TEX vs. CLE ($12):
Indians starter Josh Tomlin has been vulnerable to right-handed hitters, allowing a .358 wOBA and 18 homers this season. He's also struggled during his last three starts with a .351 average against, .439 wOBA and a massive 3.05 HR/9 rate. Desmond sports a .371 wOBA against right-handed pitching at home and has smacked 15 of his 21 homers this season against righties.

Justin Upton, DET at MIN ($11):
Upton provides some cheap home-run upside against Jose Berrios as the third member of our Tigers stack, considering the Twins' rookie starter's .482 wOBA, 40.7 percent hard-contact rate, 24 percent HR/FB rate, 6.80 xFIP and six homers given up to right-handed hitters this season. Upton has 11 of his 16 homers this season off righty arms, along with a 37.8 percent hard-contact rate.
