Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

PITCHER

Cole Hamels, TEX at SEA ($48): Seattle owns a below-average offense against lefties (.314 wOBA and 99 wRC+), and Hamels has strung together a sterling eight-game stretch with a 1.59 ERA and 58 strikeouts through 56.2 innings. He's priced a touch below the most expensive options Tuesday and owns an attractive 24.0 percent strikeout rate at home this season.

Zack Greinke, ARI at SF ($41): The Giants have scored the fifth-fewest runs in the league since the All-Star break and own a mediocre .315 wOBA and 98 wRC+. Greinke is now four underwhelming starts removed from a stint on the disabled list but this matchup sets up nicely for a contrarian flier. Remember, he did string together a strong 12-game run this season with a 2.63 ERA and 67 punchouts over 78.2 innings.

CATCHER

Nick Hundley, COL vs. LAD ($12): This is a tough draw against Rich Hill (.269 wOBA allowed to right-handed batters this season) but Hundley's cheap and owns a .393 wOBA against lefties at home this season. There's against-the-grain upside for Hundley.

FIRST BASE

Mike Napoli, CLE vs. MIN ($18): The veteran has dominated southpaws throughout his career and boasts a .396 wOBA and 151 wRC+ over the past three seasons. This is a target-worthy matchup against a pitcher making his first big league start since 2013 in Andrew Albers.

SECOND BASE

Ryan Schimpf, SD at ATL ($14): With a career .412 wOBA and 162 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers since entering the league, Schimpf is an intriguing value play Tuesday. Julio Teheran has allowed nine runs through his first two starts since returning from the disabled list and he has allowed a .353 wOBA to left-handed hitters over the past two seasons.

THIRD BASE

Matt Carpenter, STL at MIL ($14): Until Carpenter slows down or sees a huge increase in salary he's a daily option against right-handed arms and especially in favorable matchups. He's posted a .413 wOBA and 161 wRC+ against righties this year and Wily Peralta has allowed a .384 wOBA to left-handed hitters dating back to last season.

SHORTSTOP

Francisco Lindor, CLE vs. MIN ($12): This is a great price point to target a solid matchup against Albers on Tuesday. Lindor owns a .351 wOBA against lefties during his career and Albers has surrendered a .758 slugging percentage and .480 wOBA to right-handed hitters in an extremely limited sample over the past two years.

OUTFIELD

Scott Schebler, CIN at LAA ($15): Clicking of late with a .341 wOBA over the past 30 days, Schebler projects favorably against Jered Weaver. The veteran righty has allowed a .353 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season and Schebler has a .346 batting average over his past 14 games.

Brandon Guyer, CLE vs. MIN ($12): It's been smooth sailing against southpaws this season for Guyer (.451 wOBA and 191 wRC+). Albers hasn't made a start in the majors since 2013 and, as mentioned, he's been tuned up by right-handed batters in his brief looks at them over the past two seasons.

Kole Calhoun, LAA vs. CIN ($11): Representing a nice value hitting in a prime spot in the Los Angeles lineup, Calhoun owns a respectable .333 wOBA and 115 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers over the past three seasons. He lands in a strong matchup against Tim Adleman on Tuesday. The rookie righty allowed five runs over five innings in his latest outing and left-handed hitters own a .424 wOBA against him, albeit in a limited sample size.
