DraftKings MLB: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Jon Lester, CHC vs. STL ($13,000): The Cardinals have a 21.4 percent strikeout rate versus left-handed pitching and were already stymied by Lester earlier this month, as he finished with 35.6 fantasy points. Lester also boasts a sparkling 1.86 ERA and .184 batting average against at Wrigley Field this season, along with a .242 wOBA.

Tyler Anderson, COL at STL ($8,800): Anderson has done a number on the Dodgers more than once this season, not exactly surprising given the Blue Crew's significant ineptitude versus southpaws. Los Angeles checks in sporting a majors-worst .277 wOBA against left-handed pitching, along with a paltry .121 ISO and bloated 22.7 percent strikeout rate. The Rockies' southpaw has scored 23.0 and 23.5 fantasy points in his two starts against the Dodgers this season and could be in line for another solid return.

CATCHER

Wilson Ramos, WAS at PIT ($3,800): Ramos is a nice value play for either cash games or tournaments against Pirates starter Tyler Glasnow, who has allowed a .308 batting average and .415 wOBA to right-handed batters at PNC Park. Meanwhile, Ramos brings a .348 wOBA and 34.7 percent hard contact rate against righties to the table.

FIRST BASE

Jose Abreu, CWS at CLE ($4,800) Opposing starter Josh Tomlin has allowed a .326 batting average, .405 wOBA and 13 homers to right-handed hitters at home, along with a 23.6 percent HR/FB rate and 36.2 percent hard contact rate. Those numbers don't bode well for Tomlin against Abreu, who has a .307 average, .354 wOBA, 17 homers and 31.4 percent hard contact rate against righty arms this season, along with a .349 average and .412 wOBA over his last 21 games.

SECOND BASE

Jose Altuve, HOU vs. LAA ($5,300): Altuve draws a prime matchup against Angels rookie starter Daniel Wright, who has allowed a .494 wOBA to right-handed hitters on the road, along with a 39.3 percent hard contact rate overall. The All-Star second baseman has a .351 batting average, .396 wOBA and 19 homers against right-handed pitchers, along with a 32.5 percent hard contact rate.

THIRD BASE

Jose Ramirez, CLE vs. CWS ($4,500): White Sox starter Carlos Rodon has given up a .358 wOBA and served up 21 bombs to right-handed hitters this season, while Ramirez checks in with a .365 wOBA against lefties that shoots up to .409 when facing them at home. He comes in with an eight-game hitting streak as well, along with a .357 batting average and .391 wOBA over his last 21 games.

SHORTSTOP

J.J. Hardy, BAL vs. ARI ($3,400): Hardy offers cheap right-handed exposure to D-Backs starter Braden Shipley, who's given up a .425 wOBA, 5.15 xFIP and 41.8 percent hard contact rate to righty bats. He's also struggled over his last four starts, posting a 7.27 ERA and giving up a .373 batting average and .439 wOBA over the 17.1 innings during that span. Meanwhile, Hardy has a .343 batting average, .379 wOBA and 35.6 percent hard contact rate over his last 21 games. He's also been solid against right-handed pitching at Camden Yards all season, with a .316 wOBA and 30.1 percent hard contact rate.

OUTFIELD

Nelson Cruz, SEA at MIN ($5,100): Cruz blasted a homer Saturday and could be in line for more of the same Sunday against Hector Santiago, who's given up 23 home runs, a 5.48 xFIP and 38.2 percent hard contact rate to righty bats this season. Cruz's numbers against lefties, particularly on the road, are absurd even for him. The veteran slugger has tallied a jaw-dropping .475 wOBA, .449 ISO, 1.172 OPS, 48 percent HR/FB rate and 39.4 percent hard contact rate against southpaws away from Safeco Field, rendering him an absolute matchup nightmare.

George Springer, HOU vs. LAA ($4,000): Springer is another potent bat to trot out against Angels starter Daniel Wright, whose extensive troubles versus right-handed hitters was detailed earlier. Springer has a .331 wOBA at home against right-handed pitching and is riding a five-game hitting streak.

Alex Dickerson, SD vs. SF ($3,000): Dickerson is a hot lefty Padres bat with which to attack Giants spot starter Matt Cain, who's yielded a .391 wOBA to left-handed hitters on the road, along with a 20 percent HR/FB rate. Dickerson has with a five-game hitting streak, scoring between seven and 14 fantasy points over that span. He also has a .340 wOBA, .227 ISO and nine homers against right-handed pitching, including a .376 wOBA and .259 ISO versus that handedness at Petco Park.
