FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Adam Wainwright, STL vs. CIN ($7,300): Wainwright has scored 27 and 39 fantasy points in his two prior starts against the Reds this season, and recently flashed a 54-fantasy point ceiling versus the Brewers. He's also been solid overall at home, generating a 2.92 ERA and .287 wOBA while allowing just two homers over 92.1 innings. The Reds have been hitting well over the last week but still strike out at a rate north of 20 percent against right-handed pitching, while also posting the seventh-lowest road wOBA (.303) in the majors this season.

Catcher

Yadier Molina, STL vs. CIN ($3,000): Molina was pulled after one at-bat in Monday's blowout loss, but came into the game with a .375 average and .406 wOBA over the prior 20 games. He also sports a .331 wOBA overall against right-handed pitching, while Reds starter Robert Stephenson has surrendered a .414 wOBA on the road to right-handed hitters and .372 wOBA overall to that handedness. He's also generated a 7.41 ERA, .329 average and .432 wOBA over his last four starts and a 10.80 ERA over 6.2 road innings to date this season.

First Base

Kendrys Morales, KAN vs. MIN ($3,200): Following a 3-for-5 performance Monday, his third straight multi-hit effort, Morales now has a .352 average, eight homers, a .307 ISO and .445 wOBA over his last 23 games. Tuesday he takes on the very hittable Jose Berrios, who's generated a 7.92 ERA and .385 wOBA on the road, and a .444 wOBA and 7.71 ERA over his last three starts. Morales also has 19 homers on the season off righties, along with a .350 wOBA at Kauffmann Stadium.

Second Base

DJ LeMahieu, COL at SFG ($3,200): LeMahieu's price is a surprise to say the least, particularly for a matchup against the faltering Matt Moore, he of the 9.19 ERA and .435 wOBA allowed over his last four starts. LeMahieu owns a .405 wOBA against left-handed pitching overall and a still-solid .351 figure against that handedness outside of Coors Field. He's been swinging a hot bat all season long and owns a .376 average and .389 wOBA over his last 22 games.

Third Base

Yunel Escobar, LAA vs. OAK ($2,900): Escobar has been one of the most reliable cash game plays in the majors this season and checks into Tuesday's contest with an eight-game hitting streak. He's also tallied a .309 average and .337 wOBA against righties at home, while A's starter Daniel Mengden has given up a .339 wOBA to right-handed hitters, generated a 5.75 ERA and allowed a .350 wOBA over his last four trips to the mound.

Shortstop

Elvis Andrus, TEX vs. MIL ($2,900): Andrus came through Monday with another multi-hit effort, netting him double-digit fantasy points for the fifth time in the last six games. He's been scorching all through September, with a .357 average and .465 wOBA over the last 20 games. Andrus also checks with a .351 wOBA at Globe Life Park and a .336 wOBA against righties overall. Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson has yielded 13 homers and a .348 wOBA to righty bats this season, and a .349 wOBA and five round-trippers over his last four starts.

Outfield

Yasiel Puig, LOS at SDP ($2,700): Puig offers some cost-effective exposure to Padres starter Paul Clemens, who's yielded a .412 wOBA and 10 homers against right-handed hitters, along with a 2.61 HR/9, 21.4 percent HR/FB rate and 43.2 percent hard contact rate. Puig owns a .325 wOBA against right-handed pitching on the road and has been a different hitter overall since returning from a brief minor league sabbatical, with four homers, a .359 ISO and .387 wOBA over his 17 games back with the big league club.

Carlos Gomez, TEX vs. MIL ($3,300): Speaking of sluggers who've started to turn their seasons around, Gomez checks in as another cost-conscious play versus Nelson, whose vulnerability to righty bats was detailed earlier. After a three-hit night Monday that generated 25.2 fantasy points, Gomez now has five games with double-digit fantasy points in his last 10 contests. He also boasts a .312 average, four homers, a .221 ISO and .402 wOBA over his last 21 games and has hit 10 of his 11 homers on the season against right-handed pitching.

J.D. Martinez, DET vs. CLE ($3,200): Indians rookie starter Mike Clevinger has been battered by right-handed hitters to the tune of a .378 wOBA, 36.7 percent hard contact rate and six homers, along with a .395 wOBA on the road over a 47-batter sample. Martinez has been lethal all season against righties, particularly at home, where he's tallied a .371 average, .449 wOBA, .291 ISO and 10 homers against that handedness. He's also managed three straight games with double-digit fantasy points, and has reached that mark in five of his last eight contests overall.
