FanDuel MLB: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Yu Darvish, TEX vs. OAK ($9,800): The Athletics posted a .302 wOBA against right-handed hurlers last season, and Darvish owns a career 30.2 strikeout percentage. Plus, the wind is projected to be blowing in significantly, Texas is a sizeable favorite, and the Oakland lineup isn't intimidating.

CATCHER

Willson Contreras, CHI at MIL ($3,000): After posting a 1.138 OPS against left-handed hurlers with Triple-A Iowa, Contreras has continued raking southpaws with a .365 wOBA in the majors. Tommy Milone served up a .362 wOBA to right-handed hitters last year, which was fuelled by a 33.9 hard-hit percentage and 22.4 HR/FB rate.

FIRST BASE

Freddie Freeman, ATL at PIT ($3,300): Last season, Chad Kuhl surrendered a 37.0 hard-hit percentage and .363 wOBA to left-handed hitters, and Freeman tuned righties with a .293 ISO and .410 wOBA. With just a .353 slugging percentage to start 2017, Freeman's in a ripe matchup to improve that mark.

SECOND BASE

Daniel Murphy, WAS at PHI ($3,600): Hitting in the heart of a potent lineup, Murphy lands in a neutral matchup against Aaron Nola (30.0 hard-hit percentage and .324 wOBA allowed to lefty bats last year). The Nat hasn't missed a beat this year with an 8-for-17 start, which follows up his 1.010 OPS and .419 wOBA against right-handed arms last year.

THIRD BASE

Kris Bryant, CHC at MIL ($4,100): As highlighted, there is nothing scary about the matchup against Milone, and Bryant is in line for a breakout game following a 1-for-16 start to the season. After all, the reigning NL MVP posted a .327 ISO and a .438 wOBA against southpaws last year.

SHORTSTOP

Corey Seager, LAD at COL ($4,400): While Jon Gray had success at Coors Field last season (.323 wOBA allowed), he was beat around in his opening start and shouldn't be viewed as an arm to avoid just yet. Plus, Seager's .967 OPS and .408 wOBA since entering the league check out as matchup-proof marks, anyway.

OUTFIELD

Joc Pederson, LAD at COL ($4,000): Another Dodger bat to consider at Coors Field, Pederson sports a rock-solid .385 wOBA and 41.9 hard-hit percentage against right-handed hurlers dating back to last season. There is potential for his increased salary to keep his ownership in check, too.

Nomar Mazara, TEX vs. OAK ($3,100): The sophomore has been locked into the three-hole and mashing to start the season (10-for-17). His .352 wOBA against right-handed arms last year is particularly attractive at his manageable salary. Considering Kendall Graveman owns a .283 BABIP against left-handed hitters despite a 30.4 hard-hit rate, there is some negative regression ahead for the hurler.

Gregory Polanco, PIT vs. ATL ($2,900): This is a buy-low spot for Polanco, as he not only offers significant cap relief, but the setup also checks out. R.A. Dickey allowed a .339 wOBA to left-handed batters last year, and Polanco posted a .332 wOBA and 36.5 hard-hit percentage against righties. It's also worth noting that the Pittsburgh outfielder was carrying a .379 wOBA against right-handed hurlers into the All-Star break last season before nagging injuries took their toll, so he has oodles of upside.
