DraftKings MLB: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Kevin Gausman, BAL vs BOS ($7,400) - Gausman is the perfect GPP play as a low-owned pitcher coming off a shelling in Cincinnati. He should be owned in less that 5 percent of all GPPs and probably less than 1-2 percent in cash. It is alarming that he's only managed to get to four strikeouts (albeit twice in four games), but he had pretty drastic home/away splits last season. Home is where he had the most success with a respectable 20.4 percent strikeout rate along with a 2.67 ERA and a low walk (5.5 percent) and home-run rates (1.16/9IP).

CATCHER

Jett Bandy, MIL vs. STL ($2,800) - It's usually a good idea to punt at catcher, and it's even tougher to find one this cheap who is averaging 8.2 fantasy points. Before Saturday, Bandy homered in three straight games, and he still managed to single Saturday. St. Louis starter Mike Leake is off to a good start but struggled on the road against right-handed hitting last season, allowing a .364 wOBA.

FIRST BASE

Anthony Rizzo, CHI at CIN ($5,500) - By no means is this any type of bargain given the price, but it should be worth paying up for Rizzo. He's homered in back-to-back games and scored at least 10 fantasy points in five straight games. Bronson Arroyo has given up five home runs in only 15 innings this season, suggesting a Cubs stack is in play even in cash.

SECOND BASE

Brad Miller, TB vs. HOU ($3,800) - Miller continues to find himself in the cleanup role, and the home matchup is against Joe Musgrove, who has allowed three homers in 15.3 innings this season with only nine strikeouts. Musgrove has limited major league experience but gave up a .352 wOBA to left-handed hitters last season (111 at-bats).

SHORTSTOP

Addison Russell, CHI at CIN ($4,200) - Russell is in play for the exact same reasons as Rizzo: good hitters' ballpark and great matchup against Arroyo. Russell will be in the five spot (good for RBI) and already has two home runs and a triple to start the season. Again, even in cash for the early slate, stacking Cubbies makes a lot of sense.

THIRD BASE

David Freese, PIT vs. NYY ($3,200) - This is a nice pivot off Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant with Freese likely hitting cleanup against a southpaw. Yankees rookie Jordan Montgomery had two nice starts but both were home and he gave up a home run in each. Freese has a career .369 wOBA against lefties, including .407 last season.

OUTFIELD

Brandon Guyer, CLE at CHI ($3,300) - There are a lot of strong bats in play for the Tribe, including Edwin Encarnacion, Francisco Lindor and Guyer. The latter is by far the cheapest of the three and likely will be the least owned, as well. Derek Holland's .346 and .360 wOBA to right-handed batters in each of the last two seasons and his 4.81 xFIP suggests some regression to the mean is in store after a good start.

Trey Mancini, BAL vs. BOS ($3,500) -
Mancini got off to a scorching start and just when it looked like he was cooling off he homered against Saturday. The right-handed hitter faces lefty Eduardo Rodriguez, who has given up three home runs already to that side of the plate in only 10.1 innings this season.

Josh Reddick, HOU at TB ($3,600) -
Reddick should be in the two-hole, and while he is not in the greatest hitters' park, it's a decent matchup for him. Over the last three seasons he has wOBAs of .371, .356 and .367 against right-handed pitching, which he'll get Sunday against Matt Andriese.
