FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Patrick Corbin, ARI vs SDP ($7,800): There are a lot of mid-priced pitchers tonight with there being such a big slate of games. This is a great matchup for Corbin with the Padres owning the sixth lowest wOBA (.266) against left-handed pitching. More importantly, they're striking out at a 23.0 percent rate, which is in line with their 25.3 percent 2016 mark, second worst in the league. Corbin had respectable 19.8 percent and 22.8 percent K rates his last two seasons in Arizona, making this a good matchup if you can't squeeze Clayton Kershaw into your budget.

Catcher

Jason Castro, MIN at TEX ($2,500): Castro had a .329 wOBA against right-handed pitching last season (.328 for his career), which is a decent mark for a catcher. Arlington is one of the better hitter's parks in the league and he has a good matchup against Andrew Cashner. Cashner has a career.339 wOBA against lefties despite playing in National League parks and had a .380 wOBA mark against them in 2016.

First Base

Tommy Joseph, PHI vs MIA ($2,500): Joseph is off to a rough start to the season, but a matchup against Wei Yin-Chen could be what he needs to turn things around. At home last season against left-handed pitchers Joseph had a .404 wOBA, making this a great matchup. Chen gave up a .346 wOBA on the road last season to righties and has never had dominant stuff.

Second Base

Rougned Odor, TEX vs MIN ($3,200): Odor has been in a slump since signing his big contract, but tonight's game should change that. He'll be in his home ballpark where he had his best splits against right-handed pitchers last season with a .356 wOBA. Ervin Santana has pitched well out of the gate but has .359 and .370 wOBAs over the last two seasons against left-handed hitters on the road.

Shortstop

Tim Anderson, CHI vs KC ($2,700): Anderson has gotten off to a cold start at the plate but a three-hit night Monday may restore some of the youngster's confidence. Danny Duffy isn't exactly a pitcher to pick on, although it's worth noting how good Anderson did against lefties last season. In 95 plate appearances he sported a .342 wOBA against lefties and Duffy's worst split was on the road last season against right-handed hitters (.335 wOBA).

Third Base

Travis Shaw, MIL vs CIN ($3,600): Shaw is on a nice run at the moment, homering three games in a row and playing every day until the Brewers ran into a southpaw Monday. He should return to his usual cleanup role against Scott Feldman tonight as the 34-year-old righty take the mound. It's tough to ignore Shaw's teammate Eric Thames ($4,100), but Shaw will have a much lower ownership percentage in a game where Vegas expects the Brewers to score around 4.5 runs.

Outfield

Rickie Weeks, TB at BAL ($2,200): Weeks is a solid lefty killer, posting a .369 career wOBA against them for his career and .419 last season. While Wade Miley is off to a good start there will eventually be regression to the mean. Last season Miley had right-handed hitters rake off him, giving up a .360 wOBA to that handedness.

Yasmany Tomas, ARI vs SD ($3,200): Arizona's right-handed bats, including Paul Goldschmidt ($4,500), will be in play for the Snakes tonight as they take on lefty Clayton Richard. Goldschmidt (.449 wOBA vs RHP) will likely be the popular play but it's Tomas (.460 wOBA vs RHP) who was better against southpaws last season and comes at the discounted price.

Enrique Hernandez, LAD at SF ($3,200): Ty Blach is making the start in place of Madison Bumgarner and the lefty draws a tall task against the Dodgers. Hernandez has a .371 wOBA against left-handed pitching for his career and ironically hit a leadoff home run a few days ago against Corbin. This could be a hit-or-miss spot (thus a GPP play) considering Blach will be on a pitch count and probably won't go far into the game.
