FantasyDraft MLB: Tuesday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft MLB series.

PITCHER

Chris Sale, BOS vs. BAL ($24,300): Sale will face off against the Orioles on Tuesday, and while they have some big bats in their lineup, their numbers against lefties leave a lot to be desired, especially when it comes to making contact. The Orioles come in with a 26.4 percent K%, which is the the second-highest in the majors, and while the Red Sox's bats haven't been providing a ton of run support, Sale's strikeout numbers should put less pressure on them for the win.

Ervin Santana, MN at KC ($16,800): Santana had his most recent start pushed back because of a rain out, and while he missed out on a great matchup against the Royals, he still gets a nice one against the A's. He has a 0.77 ERA and 26 strikeouts over 35 innings in his first five starts, and while his K% leaves a little to be desired, the A's have the fifth-highest K% against right-handed pitchers this season.

INFIELD

Starlin Castro, NYY vs. TOR ($7,200): Lost in all the Aaron Judge hype has been a cast of Yankees who are producing at a very high level. One of those is Castro, who is averaging 9.26 fantasy points per game through 23 starts. Tuesday's matchup against Mat Latos is intriguing because Latos has started only two games this season, with one good result and one bad one. Considering his form in recent years, I'm going to side with the bad start as the norm. Meanwhile, Castro is second on the Yankees in wOBA against righties this season at .421.

Joey Votto, CIN vs. PIT ($9,300):Tyler Glasnow takes the hill for the Pirates, and unless he turns his game around quickly, he won't be up in the majors much longer. Glasnow has been equally bad against lefties and righties, so we'll want to target the Reds who have the best wOBA against righties. Votto posted the third-highest wOBA against right-handed pitching last season (.429), and while it's lower this season, it's only a matter of time before he starts to catch up to his 2016 figure.

Jedd Gyorko, STL vs. MIL ($7,200): After his first couple starts this season, Peralta had many of us wondering if he'd put the struggles of 2016 behind him, but three starts later and it appears like the 2016 version is back. Looking to take advantage of Peralta will be Gyorko, who has six multi-hit games in his past nine and ranks among the top-10 in wOBA against righties this season.

OUTFIELD

Aaron Judge, NYY vs. TOR ($7,600): I mentioned earlier that Latos is a good pitcher to stack against and Judge should be the first name searched to do that. His price is still in the mid-range, which offers plenty of value because Judge leads the Yankees in wOBA against righties this season at .425.

Scott Schebler, CIN vs. PIT ($7,200): Glasnow's struggles were detailed earlier, and while the Reds aren't typically a great stacking team because of their inconsistency, I'll make an exception here. Schebler has been on a tear lately, with 11 hits and five home runs in his past six games, which has resulted in an average of 18.66 fantasy points per game. This might be the last time to stack against Glasnow for a while, so I would suggest giving it some serious thought.

Carlos Gomez, MIL at HOU ($7,500):Mike Fiers takes the hill for the Astros, and he'll hope to put his recent struggles behind him. Fiers is again having issues with right-handed batters, just as he did last season, as they have posted a .444 wOBA against him this season. That could pose a problem against the Rangers, who have a few righties who could do damage, including Gomez, who has a team-high .387 wOBA against righties this season.

UTLIITY

Freddie Freeman, ATL at MIL ($10,200): When we last saw Matt Harvey, he looked completely lost as the Braves tagged him for six runs in less than five innings. We've since discovered that a weight-lifting session the day prior to his last start was partially to blame for his struggles, but that doesn't change the fact that he's still a right-handed pitcher and Freeman crushes righties. Freeman was second in the league in wOBA against righties entering Monday, and he put up another good game against righty Robert Gsellman, which only increased the figure.

Matt Carpenter, STL vs. MIL ($8,100): Carpenter is off to a bit of a slow start this season, but he's picked up his production over the past 10 days. He'll face Willy Peralta in what should be a very favorable matchup. The Cardinals are a good stacking option against Peralta, but Carpenter is among the best of the bunch, as he has 20 hits, including three home runs, in 43 at-bats against the Brewers' starter in his career.
