Pitcher
Dan Straily, MIA at TB ($8,300) – Pitching is pretty thin on the main slate and there really isn't a stud to pay up for. That alone puts Straily firmly in play against the Rays tonight. Tampa is in the middle of the pack as far as wOBA against right-handed pitching, but their second worst strikeout rate against righties (25.7%) makes them a good matchup. Outside of a disastrous first outing, Straily has been a stellar pitcher with at least five strikeouts and 22 fantasy points in each of his other four outings.
Catcher
Jett Bandy MIL at STL ($2,900), Manny Pina, MIL at STL ($2,700) – Whoever get the call behind the plate is in play as these two have averaged the most fantasy points of any active catcher playing tonight. Both have made Brewers fans forget Jonathan Lucroy is gone, combining for five home runs and six doubles. Bandy is the better play of the two, but don't hesitate to use Pina if he gets the start.
First Base
Chris Davis, BAL at BOS ($3,300) – Davis has gotten off to a slow start with only three home runs, but a matchup with Kyle Kendrick should change that. Kendrick, now in the American League East, will probably find that this is probably the toughest division to pitch in. For his career he's given up a .362 wOBA to left-handed hitters while Davis has a career .367 wOBA against right-handed pitching.
Second Base
Robinson Cano, SEA VS LAA ($4,100) – This is a good position to pay up for tonight with Cano taking on Alex Meyer. In his short career against lefties, Meyer has given up 12 earned runs in only 11.2 innings including three home runs. He figures not to pitch deep into this game which means Cano will also get to face secondary options in the Angels bullpen. Kyle Seager is in play as well.
Shortstop
Daniel Robertson, TB vs MIA ($2,100) – If Straily isn't on your radar tonight to use as the pitcher, then Robertson should be as a nice punt play. He's starting to adjust nicely to big league pitching with two home runs and six walks over his last six games. Last season, Straily displayed reverse splits with his wOBA, which was over 30 points higher to right-handed batters.
Third Base
Wilmer Flores, NYM at MIA ($2,400) – By now, putting Flores in against a southpaw is almost a must for cash games. He's carried over what he did last season (.455 wOBA against lefties) into this season (.528). Flores typically hits cleanup against left-handed pitching and it helps that Jaime Garcia struggled against right-handed hitters last year to the tune of a .342 wOBA
Outfield
Seth Smith, BAL at BOS ($2,800) – Smith is another left-handed Oriole bat that should be considered tonight for all of the same reasons as Davis. The case against Kendrick has already been stated, and Smith should resume his leadoff role after taking last night off. For his career, Smith has raked against right-handed pitching with a .357 OPS, and while some of that was in Colorado, he also spent a good deal of time in Oakland/San Diego/Seattle as well.
Jackie Bradley, BOS vs BAL ($3,000) – The whole Red Sox team is in play tonight considering their matchup against Ubaldo Jimenez. Jimenez could be one bad start away from getting yanked from the rotation given he hasn't pitched past 4.1 innings in four of his five starts this season. Bradley was given Wednesday off to clear his head and should be the least-owned of any of the Boston players. He comes at a $1,000 discount from his fellow outfielders and gets the lefty-vs-right split at the plate.
Christian Yelich, MIA at TB ($3,400) – In what had to be considered his breakout season in 2016, Yelich not only hit for average but power as well with a .386 wOBA against right-handed pitching. Rays hurler Matt Andriese has allowed a home run in every start this season (five) and has given up a .355 wOBA at home.
