FantasyDraft MLB: Monday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft MLB series.

PITCHERS

Kyle Hendricks, CHC at SD ($18,400):- The Padres sport a .291 wOBA versus right-handed pitching (including .288 at Petco Park), third-lowest in the majors. They've also struck out at an NL-high 25.6 percent strikeout rate versus that handedness, while Hendricks has scored between 16.60 and 22.75 fantasy points in his last six starts. Hendricks has also been even better on the road than at home, as he's generated a 2-1 record, 2.96 ERA, .188 BAA and .249 wOBA over 24.1 frames away from Wrigley.

Tanner Roark, WAS at SF ($17,200):- The Giants have been even worse than the Padres against righties, as they sport a majors-low .282 wOBA against that handedness. They also have the lowest wOBA (.272) in baseball at home, while Roark righted the ship in his most recent start by scoring 28.95 fantasy points against the Mariners. He's also been over 20 fantasy points in two other starts, and despite some ups and downs this season, he provides the upside you're looking for in tournaments.

INFIELD

Anthony Rizzo, CHC at SD ($10,400):- Rizzo's bat has come alive after a long slump, as he's smacked five homers over his last 11 games. Padres starter Jared Cosart has yielded a .437 wOBA to lefty bats, including a .489 wOBA to the nine left-handed hitters he's faced at home. Rizzo owns a .341 wOBA and 32.7 percent hard contact rate versus righties, and the Padres bullpen is giving up a majors-high .373 wOBA, 7.46 ERA and 15 homers to left-handed hitters.

Chris Owings, ARI at PIT ($9,000):- Owings has blasted right-handed pitching for a .367 wOBA, 27.0 percent line drive rate and 35.6 percent hard contact rate, while Pirates starter Trevor Williams has allowed a .359 wOBA and 26.1 percent line drive rate to righty bats. Owings has also flashed more pop against righties, smacking five of his six homers on the season versus that handedness.

Miguel Montero, CHC at SD ($6,000):- Padres starter Jared Cosart's problems versus lefty hitters, as well as those of the San Diego bullpen, were detailed earlier. Meanwhile, Montero owns a .332 wOBA and 42.9 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching.

OUTFIELD

Charlie Blackmon, COL vs. SEA ($11,200):- Even after going 0-for-7 over the last two games of the weekend series versus the Cardinals, Blackmon is still sporting a .526 wOBA and 45.1 percent hard contact rate overall at Coors Field, including a .548 wOBA and 51.0 percent hard contact rate versus righties there. Mariners starter Sam Gaviglio has been tough on lefty bats in a modest sample, but the 5.79 xFIP and unsustainable .067 BABIP he's allowed to that handedness belies the .223 wOBA he's generated. The Seattle bullpen has also been touched up by left-handed hitters for a .326 wOBA and six homers in May.

Jay Bruce, NYM vs. MIL ($8,800):- Bruce owns a .343 average, four doubles, three homers and nine RBI over 41 career plate appearances against Brewers starter Matt Garza, who's surrendered a .374 wOBA, 5.57 xFIP and a 36.7 percent hard contact rate to lefty bats. Bruce checks into Monday with a six-game hitting streak and has double-digit fantasy points in three straight contests, while the Brewers bullpen has also yielded a .351 wOBA to left-handed hitters in May.

Keon Broxton, MIL at NYM ($7,600):- Broxton makes for an appealing play on the other side of the Brewers-Mets matchup, considering New York starter Robert Gsellman has surrendered a .412 wOBA to right-handed hitters, including a .441 wOBA to the 79 righty bats he's faced at home. He's also yielded a 23.1 percent line drive rate and 34.9 percent hard contact rate to that handedness at Citi Field, while Broxton boasts a .331 wOBA, 24.6 percent line drive rate and 33.9 percent hard contact rate against righty arms. He's also sporting a .389 wOBA and .235 ISO over 86 plate appearances in May, while the Mets bullpen has given up a .339 wOBA, 5.43 ERA and seven homers to right-handed hitters this month as well.

UTILITY:

Michael Conforto, NYM vs. MIL ($10,200):- Brewers starter Matt Garza's difficulties against left-handed hitters were detailed earlier, while Conforto boasts a .469 wOBA at Citi Field, including a .463 wOBA against right-handed pitching there. He's also posted a 23.9 percent line drive rate and 46.7 percent hard contact rate versus righties overall, and despite going just 1-for-14 in his last three games, he's still notably made hard contact at a 66.7 percent rate over that stretch.

Avisail Garcia, CWS vs. BOS ($9,000):- Following a day off Sunday, Garcia draws a matchup against debuting Red Sox southpaw David Price, against whom he owns a .308 average with one homer and five RBI over 13 career plate appearances. Garcia also boasts a .406 wOBA at U.S. Cellular Field overall, and a .486 wOBA and .212 ISO versus left-handed pitching overall. The Boston bullpen has had a tough time against right-handed hitters on the road recently as well, allowing a 8.64 ERA, four homers and a .403 wOBA to the last 37 righty bats they've faced away from Fenway Park.
