FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Eddie Butler, CHC at SD ($7,200): Butler and Jose Berrios are both on the radar tonight but Butler gets the nod being $1,400 cheaper. This game will be in Petco Park, one of the more extreme pitcher's parks in the league, and the Padres are one of the worst hitting teams in baseball. They own the third lowest wOBA against right-handed pitching with a .293 mark and their ISO (.157) is in the bottom 10 of the league. Vegas has the Cubs as favorites (-135) and with an over/under of eight, that suggests the Padres won't score more than three runs.

Catcher

Mike Zunino, SEA at COL ($3,000): There are a few players coming in under the $3,500 mark for tonight's game in Coors Field, and Zunino is one of them. First, make sure he's in the starting lineup as his production this season hasn't been overly stellar. But looking at last season Zunino crushed left-handed pitching to the tune of a .368 wOBA, which he'll faces tonight in the form of Tyler Anderson.

First Base

Lucas Duda, NYM vs MIL ($3,000): Quietly, Duda has caught fire over the last week and before Monday had six straight games with at least 12.2 fantasy points. A Mets stack should be popular tonight against Zach Davies, who has given up a .361 wOBA to left-handed hitters on the road for his career.

Second Base

DJ LeMahieu, COL vs SEA ($3,200): This is an economical way to get a piece of the Rockies game given that it's in Coors and this is a thin position. Ariel Miranda has done a nice job pitching this season but this game has an over/under of 11 with the Rockies being favored. After a .437 wOBA at home last season against southpaws, LeMahieu has stepped it up this season with a .454 mark.

Shortstop

Troy Tulowitzki, TOR vs CIN ($2,900): While he's not in Colorado anymore, it's not like Rogers Centre is a bad hitter's park. Tulo homered yesterday and has reached base three times in two of his last three games since coming off the DL. Tonight he’s got a great matchup against Asher Wojciechowski, a journeyman likely to get lit up on the road.

Third Base

Nick Castellanos DET at KC ($2,500): Yes, Castellanos has gotten off to a slow start, but looking at last year's numbers they suggest he'll be OK. This is a good matchup against an unheralded rookie making his big-league debut in Eric Skoglund, and Castellanos has a career .325 wOBA against left-handed pitching.

Outfield

Justin Ruggiano, SF vs WAS ($2,300): OK, he's near the minimum price, but he'll be hitting in the heart of the order against a lefty he's done well against in the past in Gio Gonzalez. Ruggiano will probably be hitting in the fifth spot, a good RBI place. Rostering him brings a ton of salary cap relief as well.

Kyle Schwarber, CHI at SD ($2,900): This is likely the cheapest price Schwarber will be at all season and it's predicated on him playing in Petco tonight. Despite that, he's got a good matchup that will likely land him in the leadoff spot against rookie right-handed pitcher Dinelson Lamet. For his career Schwarber has a .353 wOBA against opposing right-handed pitching so he matches up well despite the ballpark.

Adam Frazier, PIT vs ARI ($3,600): A few of the Pirates' bats are in play tonight given their success against left-handed pitching since the start of the 2016 season. Robbie Ray has been good this season, but the success Frazier has had against left-handed pitching trumps that. For his brief career Frazier has a .389 wOBA against southpaws and teammates David Freese, Andrew McCutchen, and Jordy Mercer are all options as well.
