DraftKings MLB: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Luis Severino, NYY vs. BAL ($9,800): Slightly under the high range for pitchers, Severino fits the bill for consistency with at least seven strikeouts in each of his last four outings. He's had tough matchups yet come out on top, including an eight-strikeout, one earned run win against the Orioles in late May. Baltimore has a .311 wOBA against righties since the beginning of May and an even worse 23.9 percent K rate.

Alex Wood, LAD vs. CIN ($9,500): In the same mold as Severino, Wood provides consistency with at least 18.5 fantasy points in each of his last six starts. The Reds have decent numbers against lefties, but so do the previous three teams Wood has faced and he hasn't allowed a run to any of them. Wood is cruising and even in a tough matchup is one of the bigger favorites of the day, partly due to his 31.3 percent K rate.

CATCHER

Yasmani Grandal, LAD vs. CIN ($3,600): Grandal has been far from reliable this season, but his .357 wOBA against righties should prove useful against Asher Wojciechowski. The righty is trying to cement a spot in the rotation yet has failed to provide consistent results, allowing eight hits in his last game and giving up three homers the start before that.

FIRST BASE

John Jaso, PIT vs. MIA ($3,200): At an extremely cheap price, Jaso provides some pop against a righty. Jaso has a .328 wOBA against righties this season, but that number jumps to .360 since the beginning of May. Dan Straily can be a hard nut to crack, but I'm still willing to go against his 4.40 xFIP versus lefties.

SECOND BASE

Eric Sogard, MIL at ARI ($3,900): Sogard is another one of the surprising pieces in Milwaukee's lineup and he gets a favorable spot due to his .515 wOBA against righties in 56 plate appearances. Zack Godley was recalled for this start from a temporary demotion to Triple-A even after some decent outings. Godley has limited work under his belt this season and his .376 wOBA allowed to lefties last season is reason enough to consider Sogard.

THIRD BASE

Derek Dietrich, MIA at PIT ($3,400): This isn't going to be a popular play given Dietrich's numbers, but he has a hit in each of his last four games and has some hope with this matchup. Trevor Williams has a 5.51 xFIP against lefties and that could be troublesome against a team that just had 18 hits on Friday night, most of them coming against a righty (Tyler Glasnow).

SHORTSTOP

Francisco Lindor, CLE vs. CWS ($5,100): Lindor is one of the few switch hitters that is better against lefties (.402 wOBA, .268 ISO) so it makes sense to take him here. David Holmberg doesn't have much success to his name and is still an unknown having not pitched more than four innings in any appearance this year. With the mediocre White Sox bullpen (4.25 xFIP) expected to get work, Lindor and the Indians should capitalize.

OUTFIELD

Gregor Blanco, ARI vs. MIL ($3,700): Most of his damage (.404 wOBA) has come against righties and that'll help against Junior Guerra, who has a 4.66 xFIP against lefties. Guerra hasn't allowed many runs, but has just 11 Ks compared to nine walks in his last three starts.

Tommy Pham, STL vs. PHI ($3,700): In a righty-righty matchup, Pham has good enough numbers to back him against the struggling Nick Pivetta. Pham has a .353 wOBA against righties, which goes well with Pivetta's .435 wOBA allowed to righties. Pivetta has yet to go more than five innings in an outing and has given up at least three runs in three of his last four starts.

Marwin Gonzalez, HOU vs. LAA ($4,600): It seems too easy, but the matchup is sitting there for us with Gonzalez's .453 wOBA and .351 ISO against righties. Ricky Nolasco has had a rough year with a 5.06 xFIP against lefties, while also allowing 14 runs in his last three starts.
