FanDuel MLB: Monday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Monday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Stephen Strasburg, WAS vs ATL ($11,400) – Strasburg is averaging 42.9 points per game this season, but that number jumps to 56.3 over his past four. The matchup here is neither good nor bad, as the Braves are around the middle of the pack in wOBA and K% against righties this season.

Catcher

Gary Sanchez, NYY at LAA ($4,000) – Sanchez has four home runs and 12 RBI in his past four games, most of which has been against right-handed pitching, and he gets another righty in Alex Meyer. Sanchez has fared better against righties all season, though, so his recent surge shouldn't be a huge surprise.

First Base

Mitch Moreland, BOS vs PHI ($3,500) – Jared Eickhoff has been terrible for much of the season and there's no reason to think he'll get through this start unscathed. Moreland is averaging 24.4 points over his past four games (all against RH starters), and he leads the Red Sox in wOBA against righties this season at .373.

Second Base

Jose Pirela, SD vs CIN ($2,500) – Pirela has been quite a revelation this season, as he enters with an average of 17.1 points per game through six contests. Sure, it's not a huge sample size, but for this price against the struggling Bronson Arroyo, he's certainly worth a look.

Shortstop

Xander Bogaerts, BOS vs PHI ($3,700) – I just don't see a scenario in which the Red Sox don't hammer Eickhoff, so you'll want to get more than Moreland into your lineup. Bogaerts is probably the second best option on the Red Sox, as he is currently second on the team in wOBA against righties. He's also second on the team with an average of 11 fantasy points per game.

Third Base

Miguel Sano, MIN vs SEA ($4,100) – Sano gets another crack at Yovani Gallardo and his 6.26 ERA on Monday. Sano leads the Twins with a .416 wOBA against righties this season, which should bode well against a struggling Gallardo in the series opener with Seattle.

Outfield

Byron Buxton, MN vs SEA ($2,500) – Buxton looked like one of the best hitters in the league late last season, but he hasn't resembled that guy at all yet this year. That said, he had multiple hits Sunday and his third long ball of the year, which could mean he's finding his swing again. Considering his price and the matchup with Gallardo, he's certainly worth a look.

Avisail Garcia, CHW vs BAL ($3,100) – At 11.5 points per game this season, Garcia is one of the better values on the board. He's a great value on this slate, not only because of his consistent play this season, but because he gets a vulnerable lefty in Wade Miley. Miley has pitched above his class for most of the year, but he's starting to show some cracks. Garcia leads the White Sox in wOBA against lefties this season at .483, which is good for 12th in the majors.

Eric Young Jr., LAA vs NYY ($3,000) – Young Jr. was called up when Mike Trout went on the DL, but if he keeps up his current level of play, he won't be heading back down anytime soon. Young Jr. is averaging 13.4 points per game through 13 contests. Young Jr. has hit better against lefties than righties this season, but he still has a solid .360 wOBA against righties.
