FanDuel MLB: Friday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Luis Severino, NYY at OAK ($9,900) – The A's are a bottom-half team in wOBA against righties this season and they strike out at a very high rate. Severino has seven or more strikeouts in each of his past five starts and has posted 40 or more fantasy points in each of his past four.

Catcher

Buster Posey, SF at COL ($4,000)Antonio Senzatela takes the mound for the Rockies, and while he's been pretty good this season, he is still surrendering about four runs per game. He's also pitching in Coors Field, and Posey has the highest wOBA on the team against righties this season.

First Base

Edwin Encarnacion, CLE vs MN ($3,600)Nik Turley takes the mound for the Twins, and although we don't know much about him, we know that he struggled in his first start against a light-hitting Giants team last week. The Indians look to be the best stack on the board, and with a lefty on the mound, you'll want a piece of Encarnacion. He has a wOBA of .370 against lefties this season, but more importantly, he's been on fire lately, averaging 20.8 points per game over his past six.

Second Base

Ian Happ, CHC at PIT ($3,200) – Happ has homered in his past two games (both as a lefty) and he'll be batting from the left side again against Trevor Williams. Williams brings a 5.24 ERA into this matchup.

Shortstop

Aledmys Diaz, STL vs BAL ($3,000)Kevin Gausman enters with a 6.49 ERA and he's coming off a terrible outing where he gave up seven runs in just over three innings. Diaz started the season very slowly, but he's really picked up the pace over the past week. Diaz has averaged 8.5 points per game in 2017, but he's averaging 15 points over his last six.

Third Base

Travis Shaw, MIL vs SD ($3,700)Miguel Diaz gets the start for the Padres, and while he's pitched pretty well in relief over his past few outings, he still enters with a 6.92 ERA. Shaw is having an outstanding season, averaging 12.5 points per game, and has done most of his damage against righties. Shaw has a .390 wOBA against righties this season, which is good for second on the team, trailing only Eric Thames.

Outfield

Austin Jackson, CLE vs MN ($2,700) – Jackson leads the Indians in wOBA against lefties this season at .394. He's averaging just 6.4 points per game this season, but that number is little skewed because he'll often pinch hit as part of a platoon, which counts as a full game in his average.

Charlie Blackmon, COL vs SF ($4,800) – When the Rockies play at Coors, you can pick just about any player out of their lineup and get some good production, but Blackmon is generally their most reliable bat (.410 wOBA against righties). Jeff Samardzjia has surrendered at least three runs in three of his past four starts.

Mitch Haniger, SEA at TEX ($3,600)Mitch Haniger is averaging 15.2 points per game this season. That number puts him in the same class as Aaron Judge and Paul Goldschmidt. Sure, he's missed some time and has only played 26 games, but he's maintained his average in the five games since his return. He has a good matchup against righty Tyson Ross, who will be making his first start of the season. Haniger leads the Mariners in wOBA against righties this season at .450.
