FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Jake Odorizzi, TAM vs. BAL ($7,700): Sunday's main slate features a whole lot of yuck on the bump, with no pitcher reaching $9,000. Sure, there may be a 40-point day in store somewhere, but the smart play appears to be minimizing damage, as seemingly every arm is capable of implosion. Odorizzi has allowed three or fewer runs in six straight and in all but two of his starts this season. He's been sound at home, owning a 3.22 ERA, .297 wOBA allowed and 21.6 strikeout rate, while the Orioles' offense has just a 98 wRC+ and .318 wOBA against right handers.

CATCHER

Manny Pina, MIL at ATL ($2,400): Pina didn't start Saturday, suggesting he'll be back in the lineup Sunday. He's been better against lefties, but he has a serviceable .320 wOBA against righties, whom he's hit all four of his homers against. That could give him a shot at some upside against Julio Teheran, who has allowed 11 homers at home, where his ERA is 6.65.

FIRST BASE

Logan Morrison, TAM vs. BAL ($3,600): A potentially less obvious stacking option could be the Rays against Chris Tillman, who has a 13.91 ERA while allowing a .517 wOBA and 1.254 OPS on the road this year. Morrison counters with a .402 wOBA, 157 wRC+ and .369 ISO against righties.

SECOND BASE

Brandon Phillips, ATL vs. MIL ($3,300): Phillips is closing out the Braves' home stand in style, having scored six runs, driven in five while going 5-for-12 with homers in three consecutive games. His .352 wOBA and 116 wRC+ against righties seems to offer a safe floor, while Milwaukee starter Zach Davies has allowed 19 hits and 11 earned runs over his last 10 innings.

THIRD BASE

Ryon Healy, OAK at CWS ($3,100): Given his recent form (3-for-28), Healy isn't likely to see much ownership. However, he boasts a healthy .475 wOBA, 207 wRC+ and .364 ISO against left-handers across 57 plate appearances. White Sox lefty Derek Holland has had a woeful June, allowing 22 earned runs over 15.2 innings, surrendering 33 hits, eight of which left the yard.

SHORTSTOP

Dansby Swanson, ATL vs. MIL ($2,800): In no way do I think stacking Braves bats is a great idea, but the matchup with Zach Davies certainly isn't one to avoid either. Swanson offers some upside at a position that is incredibly top heavy. His season-long splits aren't impressive, but he's turned the corner in June and rides an eight-game hit streak into Sunday. That's help lead to a .342 wOBA, 109 wRC+ and .829 OPS against righties this month.

OUTFIELD

Aaron Judge, NYY vs. TEX ($4,900): Rangers' starter Nick Martinez has struggled mightily on the road, owning a 5.27 ERA and .382 wOBA allowed while also giving up eight homers over just 27.1 innings. I'm all in on all things Yankees Sunday, but in the interest of diversity for this column, I'll simply highlight Judge, who still boasts absurd numbers against righties: .454 wOBA, 188 wRC+, .361 ISO and 1.110 OPS.

Avisail Garcia, CWS vs. OAK ($3,500): Garcia has been dominant against lefties, but his numbers against right-handers aren't anything to scoff at, especially at home, where he's posted a .406 wOBA and 155 wRC+ against same-handed pitchers. That bodes well against A's starter Sonny Gray, who has a 5.96 ERA on the road while allowing right-handers to post a .401 wOBA against him.

Robbie Grossman, MIN at CLE ($2,800): Grossman has cooled in June, but he still possesses a .347 wOBA against right-handers, including .354 on the road, where he has a 119 wRC+. He's a cheap buy-in against a struggling Josh Tomlin, who has a 6.58 ERA at home while allowing a .458 wOBA and 1.096 OPS to right-handed bats.
