FantasyDraft MLB: Wednesday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft MLB series.

PITCHER

Masahiro Tanaka, NYY at CHW ($16,000): Tanaka shut down the Rangers in his most recent start and he gets an easier matchup Wednesday against the White Sox, who enter with the fourth-lowest wOBA against righties this season. Another interesting stat on Tanaka: his ERA is 5.74 this season, but it's only 3.29 in night games.

Chase Anderson, MIL at CIN ($18,800): We are stuck in a weird cycle where most of the quality pitching is concentrated on just a couple days and with that, there aren't many good options outside of Tanaka. Anderson is a decent one, as he has only allowed six runs over his past six starts, striking out at least six in five of them.

INFIELD

Wil Myers, SD vs. ATL ($7,600):Bartolo Colon returns from the DL, which means it's time to look into a Padres stack. It's not easy to find enough good bats in San Diego, but Myers is one guy who is pretty easy to target, as he leads the team in wOBA against righties and hit a home run the last time he faced one.

Jose Pirela, SD vs. ATL ($7,200): Again, it's worth targeting Colon, who has allowed 17 runs in his last 11 innings. Pirela is averaging 10.23 fantasy points per game this season, and he sits atop the lineup.

Travis d'Arnaud, NYM at MIA ($6,600):Jeff Locke comes in with a 5.70 ERA and zero quality starts in five tries this season. The Mets are better as a team against righties, but one guy who has thrived against lefties this season is d'Arnaud, whose .534 wOBA against them is the fourth-highest in the majors.

OUTFIELD

Kevin Pillar, TOR vs. BAL ($7,200):Wade Miley takes the mound for the Orioles, and like all the other O's starters, he's struggled most of the season. And while Pillar hit a rut a couple weeks ago and only recently began to pull out of it, he comes in with a .436 wOBA against left-handed pitching, the second-highest mark on the team.

Jackie Bradley, BOS vs. MN ($8,000): Bradley went 0-for-4 Tuesday night, though the lefty starter he was up against only lasted one at-bat because of a rain delay. He gets another crack at a lefty in Adalberto Mejia, who has struggled for most of the season while Bradley leads the Red Sox in wOBA against lefties (.474).

Aaron Judge, NYY at CHW ($10,800): Judge is normally a good option against just about any pitcher, but when a lefty is on the mound, he's almost a must-have. Judge has a .502 wOBA against lefties this season and he'll face lefty Carlos Rodon, who is making his first start of the season and allowed a .342 wOBA to right-handed hitters last year (versus .266 to lefties).

UTILITY

Justin Smoak, TOR vs. BAL ($8,400): Opposing starter Wade Miley has allowed at least four runs in each of his past four starts, and he gets another tough matchup against the Blue Jays. Smoak has been the most consistent bat in the Blue Jays' lineup all season, and he enters with a team-high .443 wOBA against lefties.

Paul Goldschmidt, AZ vs. STL ($10,800): Goldschmidt is one of the few hitters who could be on this list every day, but there's more incentive to take him against Adam Wainwright, who has pitched well for most of the season but allowed nine runs in two of his past four starts. Whether or not he blows up again is irrelevant, as Goldschmidt is likely to hit him either way, coming in with a .457 wOBA against righties this year.
