FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Michael Fulmer, DET vs SF ($9,700) – He's the third highest priced option today and as a result it seems like he's going to be overlooked. Fulmer has scored at least 22 fantasy points in every start except one and is coming off games of 46 and 51 fantasy points. This is an excellent matchup for him as the Giants will be forced to put a below-average hitter into their lineup at DH playing in an AL park and they've been a terrible offense this season. They're the eighth worst team in terms of wOBA (.303) and the fifth worst team in ISO (.150) on the road against right-handed pitching.

Catcher

Alex Avila, DET vs SF ($3,000) – Avila has had a nice season batting .310 will 11 home runs, both great stats for someone who qualifies at catcher. His best splits this season have been at home where he's had a .486 wOBA against right-handed pitching. The matchup is excellent against Matt Cain who has his worst splits on the road against left-handed hitters, giving up a .463 wOBA.

First Base

Chris Carter, NYY vs TOR ($2,500) – Carter has been a huge disappointment for the Yankees this far but has shown signs of turning it around as of late. Over his last 10 starts he has two doubles and two home runs and gets a southpaw today in J.A. Happ. Carter had a .368 wOBA against lefties last season and for his career and gone 4-for-12 against Happ with two home runs (1.300 OPS).

Second Base

Eric Sogard, MIL vs BAL ($2,900) – Feel free to pick on Ubaldo Jimenez, who despite his last start is an excellent pitcher to target, always. Sogard has come back to earth after a hot start with the Brewers but this matchup should be ideal for him. Jimenez has given up a .407 wOBA to left-handed hitters while Sogard has a .411 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Eric Thames and Travis Shaw are obviously in the mix here as well.

Shortstop

Adam Rosales, OAK vs CWS ($2,300) – Here's a pick for the batter vs pitcher backers, as over a small sample Rosales has gotten the best of James Shields. He's gone 4-for-10 with all the hits going for extra bases including one home run. Shields have up a .384 wOBA against right-handed hitters last season and surrendered 40 total home runs last season.

Third Base

Yunel Escobar, LAA at MIN ($3,000) – With the slew of injuries to the Halos, Escobar has been seeing plenty of time in the cleanup spot. This is a great matchup today against Kyle Gibson, who has been prone to giving up the home run throughout his short career. He's given up a .430 wOBA at home this season to right-handed hitters and Escobar has a decent .825 OPS from the cleanup spot.

Outfield

Clint Frazier, NYY vs TOR ($2,300) – Like Carter, Frazier is likely to go under the radar today when most will stack up Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge. Frazier gets the righty-vs-lefty advantage against Happ and has the benefit of playing in Yankee Stadium, although it plays better to left-handed hitters. Frazier had some great numbers in the minors and offers salary cap relief to allow you to pay up at other positions today.

Steve Pearce, TOR at NYY ($2,900) – While a .347 wOBA against left-handed pitching is more than respectable, it's Pearce's career .364 mark that tells how good he's actually been. CC Sabathia's worst splits this season (.329) and last (.330) were against right-handed hitters at home. It helps that Pearce has gone 7-for-24 against Sabathia with two home runs, and using teammate Josh Donaldson ($3,500) against a lefty is always a good idea.

Tommy Pham, STL vs MIA, ($3,300) – Pham is hitting towards the top of the order (second) and is on a nice hot streak as of late as well. He's scored at least 12.2 fantasy points in six of his late eight games (the other two were a goose egg and a 9.2 effort) leading to a 1.030 OPS over his last 14 games. Jose Urena's worst splits have come against right-handed hitting (.345 wOBA) this season.
