DraftKings MLB: Friday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

Pitcher

Chris Sale, BOS at LAA ($13,400): There are three pitchers on the slate with the ability to deliver 30 or more points, so spending up in at least one spot seems like the best strategy. The Angels' offense doesn't have much to offer beyond Mike Trout, as evidenced by their .291 wOBA and .117 ISO against lefty pitching. Sale has been so good in 2017 that dominance is now expected in every start. His fastball registers at 20.3 RAA, and he carries a swinging strike rate over 16 percent.

Trevor Cahill, SD at SF ($8,300): Cahill has easily outperformed expectations in 2017. He will enter the contest against the Giants sporting a 3.14 ERA to go along with a 13.4 percent swinging strike rate over 57.1 innings (10 starts). The 29-year-old spun a gem against the Giants at Petco Park in his last start, and while he has struggled on the road, the spacious confines of AT&T Park should make him feel right at home.

Catcher

Mike Zunino, SEA vs. NYY ($3,300): Zunino has shown good power against both sides of the platoon, but a .372 wOBA tells us that he has been a better overall producer against southpaws. CC Sabathia has logged mediocre walk and strikeout rates against his opposite hand, while allowing a hard contact rate of over 37 percent in 70.2 innings.

First Base

Justin Bour, MIA at CIN ($4,600): Opposing starter Homer Bailey can't seem to get on track after starting the season on the disabled list. He has put up negative points in three of his five starts and comes into the contest against the Marlins holing a 10.13 ERA over 21.1 innings. Bour has mashed righty pitchers in 2017, notching a .254 ISO and a 45 percent hard contact rate.

Second Base

Asdrubal Cabrera, NYM vs. OAK ($4,000):Paul Blackburn hasn't been squared up much in his young career, but it may just be a matter of time before the rookie encounters his first drubbing, as he has struck out just 10 percent of batters over three starts. Cabrera has notched a .168 ISO and a 35 percent hard contact rate against righties this season.

Third Base

Mike Moustakas, KC vs. CWS ($3,600): Moustakas appears to be one of the better offensive values on the slate, as he has tallied a .279 ISO and a .363 wOBA against opposite-handed pitchers. This could result in a productive day against James Shields, who has allowed eight home runs in just 18.2 innings against lefties this season.

Shortstop

Enrique Hernandez, LAD vs. ATL ($3,900): Hernandez has dominated left-handed pitchers in 2017, maintaining a .404 ISO and a .412 wOBA across 89 at-bats. Jaime Garcia's strikeout rate plummets to 16 percent against right-handers, while his xFIP jumps to 4.52. It is important to note that Garcia's name has been heavily linked to trade talks, so he may be dealt away before he is able to make the start.

Outfield

Josh Reddick, HOU at BAL ($4,400): Opposing starter Ubaldo Jimenez has tallied a -13.8 RAA with his fastball this season to go along with a .654 slugging percentage against lefty hitters. Reddick sports a 14.6 RAA against the fastball and a 226 ISO against right-handed pitchers.

Khris Davis, OAK at NYM ($4,100):Steven Matz has allowed eight home runs to right-handed hitters over 29.2 innings this season. He has struck out just 13.5 percent of batters faced over that span. Davis has shown considerably more power against righties, but is the owner of an enormous 54 percent hard contact rate against southpaws.

Scooter Gennett, CIN vs. MIA ($3,700): Gennett has notched a .311 ISO and a .425 wOBA against right-handed pitching over 183 at-bats. Jose Urena has tallied just an 11 percent strikeout rate against his opposite hand in 38.2 innings, contributing to a 6.79 xFIP.
