Yahoo DFS Baseball: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Pitcher

Drew Pomeranz, BOS vs. CWS ($47): No team in baseball has been as futile against left-handed pitching on the road since July 1 than the White Sox with a .246 wOBA. Pomperanz has been dominant against right-handed batters all season, allowing a .289 wOBA.

Catcher

Yan Gomes, CLE vs. NYY ($8): Gomes' overall numbers don't inspire, but he's hit well against left-handed pitching this season with a .376 wOBA. Five of his six homers have come off lefties, and he faces Jordan Montgomery, who has allowed 12 of his 15 homers to right-handers. Plus, going cheap at catcher allows more spending elsewhere.

First Base

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI at SF ($22): Paying up at first base is usually a good plan, and Goldschmidt isn't even the most expensive player at the position Saturday (that would be Justin Smoak at $23). Goldschmidt has a .444 wOBA against right-handed pitchers this season and faces righty Chris Stratton in his first start off the disabled list.

Second Base

Scooter Gennett, CIN vs. STL ($16): Gennett crushes right-handed pitching, posting a 1.005 OPS in 219 at-bats and hitting 17 of his 18 home runs off righties. What's more, his .443 wOBA against right-handers leads second basemen. He faces right-hander Lance Lynn, who has allowed a .342 wOBA to lefties this season. Bennett is an excellent value, $13 cheaper than the top second baseman (Jose Altuve).

Third Base

Ryon Healy, OAK at LAA ($10): Arizona lefty Jake Lamb faces a right-hander Saturday, but he figures to be highly owned. So, let's pivot to Healy, who also sports impressive L/R splits and is much cheaper. Healy has a .441 wOBA against left-handed pitchers and faces lefty Tyler Skaggs in his first start off the 60-day DL. Skaggs likely will be on a pitch count, which should work fine for Healy, as the Angels bullpen has allowed a .345 wOBA to right-handed batters, fifth highest in the AL, since July 1.

Shortstop

Francisco Lindor, CLE vs. NYY ($19): The switch-hitting Lindor is the most expensive shortstop, but should be well worth it as he has a .390 wOBA against left-handed pitching, facing the aforementioned Jordan Montgomery. The high price should keep his ownership low, too.

Outfield

Justin Upton, DET at BAL ($22): Upton ranks fifth in the majors with a .542 road wOBA vs. left-handed pitching this season. He faces lefty Wade Miley, who has allowed a .377 wOBA to right-handed batters and has been given up five homers in his last five starts.

David Peralta, ARI at SF ($15): As mentioned, right-hander Chris Stanton is making his first start off the disabled list. In his only other start this season (July 6), he allowed five runs in 6.2 innings to the Tigers. In 15 starts at Triple-A, he posted a 5.11 ERA. Peralta has a .354 wOBA against right-handed pitching with eight of his 10 homers coming off righties.

Daniel Nava, PHI at COL ($7):
Nava has a .402 wOBA vs. right-handers this season. He faces righty Jon Gray, who has allowed a .358 wOBA to lefties at Coors Field. That's a recipe for excellent value as Nava is priced at the minimum.
