Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Tuesday brings an unusually robust 11-game slate after the league's day off Monday, and with the season winding down, value abounds at virtually every position. It's the time of year to particularly be mindful of the news all the way to tip-off, as lineup changes are plentiful with some teams with nothing left to play for opting to rest aging starters. We'll mainly focus on unearthing some value that will give you the room to roster the likes of Russell Westbrook, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

GUARD

Jeff Teague, ATL at PHO ($23) - The Suns give up the most fantasy points (48.74) and points (24.2) per game to point guards and are now back to having to go with either Ronnie Price or John Jenkins at the one. The Hawks continue battling for playoff positioning, and Teague has notably stepped up his role in the offense in the second half of the season. He has fantasy point totals of 35.8, 47.7 and 53.3 in three of the last four games, while scoring in double digits in five straight.

Seth Curry, SAC vs. POR ($10) -
Jimmy Butler ($37) clearly makes for a terrific play considering his recent performances, while C.J. McCollum ($31) is also in a great spot against the Kings' shooting guard defense. However, for those looking for significant savings with a strong upside, Curry stands out as an excellent minimum-priced play. He's scored 20.3 to 32.9 fantasy points in five of the last six, as he continues to receive solid playing time in the absence of Marco Belinelli (foot). With nothing left to play for, the Kings figure to continue giving Curry plenty of opportunity, and he'll draw a nice matchup versus the Blazers in what should be a fast-paced game.

Guard to Avoid:

D'Angelo Russell, LAL at LAC ($22) - Russell's locker-room drama is taking its toll, and he certainly won't draw a matchup that will help a bounce-back performance Tuesday. Chris Paul figures to clamp down on the rookie with his typically stalwart defense, and we've already seen Russell wilt in less difficult matchups. He's also tallied fantasy point totals of 0.2 and 9.4 in two of his last five, and scored a lackluster 21.8 against the Celtics' stingy point guard defense Sunday. With lower-priced options such as Shelvin Mack ($18) available, steer clear of Russell.

FORWARD

Andrew Wiggins, MIN at GS ($22) - The light seems to have really gone on for Wiggins in the second half of the season, yet his price remains extremely reasonable. He'll be in the thick of a fast-paced contest where the Timberwolves figure to be firing away to stay within reach of the Warriors. Wiggins has tallied more than 40 fantasy points on four occasions and more than 30 in six other instances during his last 15 games, including 40.3 versus Dallas in his last game Sunday. While he does tend to be somewhat scoring dependent, the second-year swingman has even picked it up on the glass lately as well, and offers the possibility of nice return in what should be one of the higher-scoring games of the night.

Luke Babbitt, NO at PHI ($11) -
Babbitt is the first of two value forwards who have been outperforming their modest prices. He's maximized the opportunity afforded him by the decimated state of the Pelicans' frontcourt, scoring 24.8 to 42.5 fantasy points in four of his last five games. He's contributed across the stat sheet, even draining multiple threes in all four of those contests as well. Tuesday, he faces the more generous defense versus small forwards in the league, as the Sixers surrender the seventh-most fantasy points (40.52), most points (21.1), second-most rebounds (7.7), third-most three-pointers (2.4) and third-highest field-goal percentage (45.7) per game to threes this season.

Carl Landry, PHI at NO ($12) -
Although Nerlens Noel (knee) is listed as questionable for Tuesday, coach Brett Brown has already speculated that he's unlikely to take the court. If that holds true, the near-minimum priced Landry will take aim at a Pelicans defense that has surrendered the third-most fantasy points (49.32), third-most points (21.7), fourth-most assists (3.1), second-most blocks (2.8) and fifth-highest field-goal percentages (54.7) to centers this season. He's also scored 27.2 to 36.1 fantasy points in three of his last four games.

Forward to Avoid:

Blake Griffin, LAC vs. LAL ($42) - For a big man who'd missed extensive time, Griffin acquitted himself reasonably well in his return Sunday. However, he's essentially priced as if he hadn't missed any time at all and doesn't figure to get a full allotment of minutes just yet. There are also several cheaper power forward options in appealing matchups, including Draymond Green ($40), Paul Millsap ($34), LaMarcus Aldridge ($34) and Kevin Love ($30).

CENTER

Tyson Chandler, PHO at ATL ($11) - Chandler has turned back the clock and shown he has plenty left in the tank in the latter stages of the season. He's scored 34.1, 33.0 and 43.6 fantasy points, respectively, in his last three games, while averaging 12 boards per game over that span. He scored more than 30 fantasy points in three others in his last 10 as well, and hauled in double-digit rebounds in those games also. While he has the occasional single-digit clunker, he sports a near-minimum price and draws a Hawks defense that ranks in the bottom 10 in fantasy points (47.79) and points (21.1) allowed per game to centers and gives up the second-most rebounds (16.3) per game to the position, as well.

Center to Avoid:

Al Horford, ATL vs. PHO ($26) - Chandler has done some solid work on the defensive end as well, as the Suns give up the seventh-fewest points per game to centers (19.7). Horford has also seen a scoring downturn lately and hasn't eclipsed the 20-point mark in seven straight games. While his price is not necessarily unreasonable, Greg Monroe ($22), Rudy Gobert ($19) and Nikola Jokic ($19) could be had for less, and based on recent play, offer similar upside.
