Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

It will be a quiet night in the NBA on Tuesday with only four games on the schedule. Outside of the Bucks taking on the Blazers, the matchups aren't all that exciting, either. Let's try to add some juice to the evening with a winning entry on Yahoo.

GUARDS

Kemba Walker, CHA vs. ATL ($39): It's no surprise that Walker is leading the Hornets offensively, but his 31.9 percent usage rate and 28 points per game would actually be the highest marks of his career. Not only that, but his usage rate puts him in the top-10 in the league. The Hawks have allowed the third-most points per game (120.2), leaving Walker with the potential for an offensive explosion Monday.

Malik Monk, CHA vs. ATL ($10): After averaging just 14 minutes off the bench as a rookie last year, Monk is playing a bigger role this season at 24 minutes per contest. His contributions in rebounds and assists leave a lot to be desired, but he's averaging 13.4 points and 2.4 three-pointers. The Hawks also play at the fastest pace (108.3 possessions per game), which could give Monk a few more opportunities to provide value at the minimum price.

Guard to Avoid

Malcolm Brogdon, MIL at POR ($18): Brogdon is averaging 30 minutes a game, but his 16.8 percent usage rate leaves him with little offensive upside. Don't expect that to change anytime soon, either, playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe. His price isn't outrageous, but with 25.5 Yahoo points or fewer in seven of nine games, his ceiling isn't great.

FORWARDS

Caris LeVert, BKN at PHO ($30): LeVert has become one of the focal points of the Nets offense, increasing his usage rate from 22.5 percent last year to 27.3 percent this season. He's also seen a significant bump in playing time at 32 minutes a game. The end result has been at least 32.2 Yahoo points in eight of 10 games. Antetokounmpo ($55) is the clear top choice at forward Monday, but if you don't want to pay the premium required to get him into you entry, LeVert is a great secondary option at a more budget-friendly price.

DeAndre' Bembry, ATL at CHA ($14): As if things weren't bad enough for the Hawks, Taurean Prince (ankle) is listed as doubtful against the Hornets. If he doesn't take the floor, Bembry should see an increase in playing time. Although he's nowhere near the offensive threat that Prince is, Bembry has still scored at least 21.3 Yahoo points in five of his last seven games despite playing more than 25 minutes in only two of those contests.

Forward to Avoid

Ersan Ilyasova, MIL at POR ($17): The additions of Ilyasova and Brook Lopez have helped the Bucks get off to an 8-1 start. Ilyasova is one of their ley reserves, but his production isn't overly impressive at 9.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. A big reason for that is because he's been limited to 23 minutes a night. Since his contributions are mostly limited to points in rebounds, it could be risky putting him into your lineup with the Blazers only allowing 107.8 points per game.

CENTERS

Deandre Ayton, PHO vs. BKN ($30): The Suns certainly haven't eased their talented rookie into the league, playing him 32 minutes a night. He's been extremely productive right out of the gate, scoring at least 33.7 Yahoo points in seven of nine games. The Nets allow the second-most Yahoo points per game to opposing centers (51.3), leaving Ayton as one of the best options for the evening at the position.

Jarrett Allen, BKN at PHO ($15): Facing Ayton will be Allen, who has been productive in his own right with at least 28.6 Yahoo points in six of his 10 games. The Suns haven't been much better at slowing down opposing big men, allowing the third-most Yahoo points per game (51.2) to centers. Allen doesn't have nearly the upside that Ayton does, but he's someone to consider if you want to save money at the position.

Center to Avoid

Brook Lopez, MIL at POR ($15): Lopez's numbers might not be great, but he's stretching the floor and blocking shots, which is what the Bucks really needed. The problem is that from a DFS perspective, his 2.9 rebounds and one assist per game leave him with very little appeal. With Allen only priced three dollars more, it might be best to avoid Lopez when crafting your lineup.
