Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Tuesday brings just five games in the NBA and none of them jump off the page as must-see TV. Luckily, we still have DFS to add some juice to the night. Here are some players to target and avoid as you create what will hopefully be a winning Yahoo entry.

GUARDS

Darren Collison, IND vs. CHI ($19):Victor Oladipo (knee) has missed the last seven games for the Pacers and remains without a timetable for his return. Collison hasn't increased his scoring output, but he has averaged 7.7 assists during Oladipo's absence. Add in his ability to rack up steals and Collison has scored at least 30.6 Yahoo points in four straight games. His price is climbing, but it's still low enough to make him a viable option for your entry.

Elie Okobo, PHO vs. SAC ($10): As if the Suns point guard situation wasn't bad enough, now they've lost Devin Booker (hamstring). There is no timetable for his return, leaving a massive hole on an already struggling team. Okobo has logged at least 29 minutes in three straight games and is going to get plenty of playing time moving forward. The Kings play at the second-fastest pace (106 possessions per game) in the league, so Okobo's high minute's floor brings him into the discussion in tournament play.

Guard to Avoid

Tyreke Evans, IND vs. CHI ($17): The Pacers have so much guard depth that Evans hasn't been able to carve out more minutes with Oladipo on the sidelines. Even when he did finally log 29 minutes Saturday against the Kings, he scored just 20.4 Yahoo points. With 25.1 Yahoo points or fewer in each of his last seven games, Evans doesn't carry much upside.

FORWARDS

Aaron Gordon, ORL at MIA ($26): With most of the top forwards not playing Tuesday, no player at the position is priced higher than $29. That should really help with your budget. Gordon is one of the higher priced forwards and for good reason. He recently missed a game with a back injury, but appears to be fine after he logged 34 minutes against the Suns on Friday. His usage rate is down almost three percent from last season, but Gordon has still been able to score at least 31.7 Yahoo points in 10 of his last 13 games.

Josh Jackson, PHO vs. SAC ($12): Not only is Booker out, but T.J. Warren (ankle) is also expected to miss his third-straight game. Jackson has stepped up in his place, scoring at least 30.7 Yahoo points in both of the first two contests that Warren missed. With Booker now out, as well, there are going to be a ton of shots up for grabs Tuesday, making Jackson extremely appealing at this cheap price.

Forward to Avoid

Jabari Parker, CHI at IND ($26): The Bulls fired Fred Hoiberg on Monday, naming assistant Jim Boylen as their new head coach. His first decision since being given the job is to move Parker to the bench and start Lauri Markkanen. That move was likely coming sooner rather than later regardless of who the coach was since Markkanen just returned from injury. Parker has been excellent of late, but his upside is going to be limited as a member of the second unit.

CENTERS

Domantas Sabonis, IND vs. CHI ($27): Sabonis has been battling a back issue, which may have contributed to him scoring just 20.9 Yahoo points Saturday against the Kings. Before that, he had scored at least 36 Yahoo points in four straight games. He's had a couple of days to rest and the Bulls allow the most Yahoo points per game (55.5) to opposing centers, so don't shy away from using him because of that one bad performance.

Richaun Holmes, PHO vs. SAC ($11): After scoring 35.2 Yahoo points Sunday against the Lakers, Holmes is finally priced at more than the minimum. He's still extremely cheap, though, especially when you consider he's scored at least 22.4 Yahoo points in six of his last seven contests. Considering the pace at which the Kings play, this is another great opportunity to help your budget and secure some value with Holmes.

Center to Avoid

Wendell Carter Jr., CHI at IND ($21): Carter had a rare outburst for 44.9 Yahoo points Friday against the Pistons, but followed that up with 22.1 Yahoo points Saturday against the Rockets. That's the type of production we've come accustomed to since Carter has scored 24 Yahoo points or fewer in seven of his last eight games. The Pacers allow the sixth-fewest Yahoo points per game (42.4) to opposing centers, so this isn't exactly a favorable opportunity for Carter to shine.
