Trenton Hassell

Hassell is a defensive player who really won't see the floor much in '08-'09.

The defensive specialist's stay in Minnesota may not be long this season after the T-Wolves took a similar player with Corey Brewer in the first round of the 2007 draft. Hassell isn't asked to score when on the floor and was only a fantasy factor in deeper leagues because he got significant minutes. With a rebuilding effort underway, expect Hassell's playing time to decline significantly if he stays with the T-Wolves.

The defensive specialist showed more of a scoring touch last season, averaging almost 10 points per game from January through March after Wally Szczerbiak was traded and the T-Wolves needed more offense from him (he averaged just 7.7 ppg in April when the T-Wolves season became a glorified tryout for the next season). He may have proven to many NBA scouts that he can't be ignored while on offense, but with the acquisition of Mike James and Randy Foye, he'll be asked to move back to a defensive specialist capacity. It's a role he was seen to excel at again after his defense seemed to take a step back in 2004-05 and had some doubting his three-year, $27 million contract.

Hassell is a defensive specialist who struggled to adapt to the NBA rule changes on hand contact last season and failed to live up to the production expected from his new three-year, $27 million contract. He'll often start at shooting guard but doesn't contribute much on offense, making him a non-factor for most fantasy leagues.

Hassell is a defensive specialist rarely contributes on the offensive end. He'll often start at shooting guard and take on the other team's best scorer.

Hassell got a lot of playing time in his two seasons (28.7 and 24.4 mpg) with the Bulls largely due to his defensive ability. He’s not an offensive threat, and will fight with Kendall Gill to be Jalen Rose’s backup at shooting guard.
