76ers Top Heat, Claim Seventh Seed In East
The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Miami Heat, 105-104, at Wells Fargo Center in the Play-In Tournament on Wednesday. With the win, the 76ers claimed the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference and will face the New York Knicks in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The 76ers and the Heat played a tight battle that went down to the wire and was only decided in the final seconds of the contest. Miami looked better early on, taking a 23-22 lead in the first quarter and bolstering to double digits following a 28-17 score in the second quarter. The Heat led by 12 points at the break, but they couldn’t sustain their advantage. The 76ers showed a different attitude in the third quarter, reducing the deficit to just five points following a 30-23 score. The 76ers kept the momentum going in the fourth quarter and completed the comeback. Even though the Heat fought back and never surrendered, the 76ers iced the game by draining a couple of crucial free throws down the stretch. With the win, the 76ers claimed the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference and will face the New York Knicks in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Meanwhile, the Heat will fight for the eighth seed in the East against the winner of the Bulls vs. Hawks matchup.

Joel Embiid led the way for the 76ers with 23 points, 15 rebounds and five assists. Tyrese Maxey delivered 19 points, six assists and three rebounds. Kelly Oubre Jr. posted 11 points and eight rebounds. Tobias Harris recorded nine points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Kyle Lowry had seven points, five rebounds and two steals. Nicolas Batum came off the bench and finished with 20 points while shooting 6-for-10 from three-point range. The 76ers shot 41.9 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from three.

Tyler Herro led the Heat with a game-high 25 points and nine assists. However, Herro shot a meager 9-for-27 from the field. Jimmy Butler posted 19 points, four rebounds, five assists and five steals. Bam Adebayo recorded 10 points and 12 rebounds. Jaime Jaquez Jr. had 15 points and five rebounds off the bench. The Heat shot 42.2 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from deep.

Bulls Storm Past Hawks In Play-In
The Chicago Bulls defeated the visiting Atlanta Hawks, 131-116, at United Center in the NBA Play-In Tournament on Wednesday evening.

The Bulls jumped out to a great start and led, 40-22, after one quarter. The Hawks responded in the second and outscored the hosts, 45-33, to cut it to a five-point game at the break. The Bulls reclaimed momentum in the third and outscored the Hawks by 12 points in the quarter to carry an 18-point advantage into the final frame. The visitors kept up the fight in the fourth but it was not enough, as the Bulls cruised to the win, earning a shot to battle for eighth place in the East. On the other hand, this marks the end of the line for the Hawks.

Coby White led the way for the Bulls with 42 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two steals, in 43 minutes. Nikola Vucevic followed up with 24 points, 12 rebounds and two assists, while DeMar DeRozan turned in 22 points, six rebounds, nine assists, a steal and a block.

Meanwhile, Dejounte Murray led the Hawks with 30 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals, in 46 minutes. Clint Capela totaled 22 points, 17 rebounds and four assists, and Trae Young logged 22 points, two rebounds and 10 assists. Bogdan Bogdanovic also came up big, with 21 points five rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks.
