Ryan Boatright

Boatright was part of the starting backcourt that won the 2014 NCAA National Championship at UConn. After sticking around to play his senior season in college, Boatright entered the 2015 NBA Draft but was not selected. However, he performed well in four games at the Las Vegas Summer League with the Nets, averaging 14.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.5 steals, and 2.8 three-pointers while shooting 48 percent from downtown. The Nets liked what they saw enough to offer him a two-year, $1.5 million deal. His greatest assets are running the pick-and-roll and hitting consistently as a catch-and-shoot player. With that said, he also has a strong pull-up game, incredible quickness, shooting, and ball handling. Boatright's weakness will be his physical profile (5-11), which is very small for an NBA point guard and will more than likely expose him as a defender. Opposing offenses will look to isolate him and post him up. However, if he is utilized correctly, he will have a solid opportunity to earn a spot on the Nets as a backup point guard on the bench, and with the team's limited depth at point (Jarrett Jack, Shane Larkin, Donald Sloan), an injury could open up a significant role for Boatright at some point this season.
