Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Frank Mason III, son of Sharon Harrison and Frank Mason II, was born in 1994 in Petersburg, Virginia. One of eight brothers and sisters, he played four years of high school ball at Petersburg High School, before spending one season at Massanutten Military Academy. The 1,901 points Mason scored during his four-year Petersburg career are second only to NBA Hall of Famer Moses Malone in school history. Mason played his collegiate basketball at Kansas, where he was selected the unanimous 2017 National Player of the Year by 10 different entities, including the Wooden, Naismith and NABC. In Sacramento and Milwaukee, he has invested his time and energy into various charitable causes. He also hosts an annual celebrity softball game to raise money for the National Youth Foundation and the Boys and Girls Club of Kansas City. After high school, rather than going to college, Frank Mason spent a year at Massanutten Military Academy and then ultimately headed to the University of Kansas. As a Jayhawk in 2013-2014, he came off the bench as a freshman and averaged 5.5 points and 2.1 assists in 16.1 minutes. The 5-11 guard moved into the starting lineup as a sophomore and never relinquished the role. He averaged 12.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists that year and was named to the All Big 12 Second Team. Mason recorded three 20-point games and a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists in a win over Michigan State. The guard was selected to the All Big 12 Defensive Team in his junior season while also producing 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists. As a senior, Mason won National Player of the Year honors after averaging 20.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists while hitting 47.1 percent of his three-pointers. He ended up scoring 30 points three times and closed out the season by putting up at least 20 points over his last seven contests.

ANALYSIS
Despite coming off the bench for the second straight game, Mason led Wisconsin with 22 points and 18 field-goal attempts. This was his first performance of 20-plus points since March 11, when he scored 24 against the Cleveland Charge. Mason's best game for the Herd was a 30-point performance in his second contest with the club back on March 4.
