Yahoo DFS Basketball: Monday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Monday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

With eight games set for Monday, and a handful of teams playing twice in two nights, there should be a few superstars who can take advantage of tired bodies. James Harden and the Rockets will get the Pistons in Detroit after battling with Brooklyn on Sunday. In his last two games, Harden has managed to drop a combined 90 points. The other superstar is Damian Lillard, who will take on the Clippers. Lillard hit five three-pointers against the Lakers on Saturday, so expect him to come out firing.

GUARD

Rajon Rondo, SAC vs. DAL ($36) - It's still pretty baffling that Rondo's price remains this low considering his historic run in November. It also helps that he'll take on the Mavericks, a team Rondo left on pretty bad terms. There's no doubt he'll play with a chip on his shoulder, and it also doesn't hurt that Rondo is averaging 42.45 fantasy points per game over his last six contests. Rondo is the clear cash-game option at point guard, but still has appeal in tournaments considering his chances of achieving value are very high.

Jerryd Bayless, MIL vs. DEN ($18) -
Bayless officially took over for Michael Carter-Williams in the Bucks' starting lineup and has done a nice job in a more important role. The veteran guard is averaging 32.4 minutes, 11.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.8 three-pointers per game over his last five. He's also contributed in the steals department, swiping the ball 10 times in the last four games. Bayless might be one of the most valuable guards in Yahoo Daily Fantasy Basketball considering his price tag and usage. And all of this goes without mentioning the fact that he'll have a soft matchup against the Nuggets.

Guard to Avoid:

Russell Westbrook, OKC at ATL ($56) - Westbrook is coming off perhaps his worst game of the season, turning the ball over 11 times and scoring just 14 points in Friday's win over the Pistons. The Hawks haven't played with the same defensive intensity that we all saw last season, but they're still in the upper half of the league when it comes to limiting teams. Because of his price, Westbrook has to put up huge stat lines to pay off, so fading him again until he gets a better matchup would probably be wise. There's also really no need to go with Westbrook when Steph Curry is just a dollar more at $57.

FORWARD

LaMarcus Aldridge, SAS at CHI ($30) - The Spurs are one of the best rebounding teams in the league with a rebound rate of 52.9. Meanwhile, the Bulls have been absolutely torched on the glass this season, allowing nearly 50 rebounds per game to the opposition. Aldridge should have an easy time reaching double-digit boards and while he's struggled on offense, Chicago should help him build up some confidence.

Justise Winslow, MIA vs. BOS ($12) -
If you're looking for some lineup flexibility, Winslow will certainly give that to you and perhaps then some. He nine points and seven rebounds over 35 minutes -- which isn't anything to write home about -- but the opportunity for more production is there. Winslow's rebounding numbers are starting to get consistent, and the Celtics will have a tough time competing with the Heat on the second half of a back-to-back. As long as he stays out of foul trouble, Winslow should see 30-plus minutes again, which will give him a chance to hit tournament value.

Forward to Avoid:

Derrick Favors, UTA vs. GSW ($33) - It's hard to expect anything from a power forward who has to go up against Draymond Green. Well, Favors will have to deal with Green on Monday night and hasn't really been setting the fantasy world on fire lately. He's averaging just 5.6 rebounds per game over his last three. Serge Ibaka ($29) and Marcus Morris ($26) are a few cheaper options who have much better matchups.

CENTER

Festus Ezeli, GSW at UTA ($16) - Andrew Bogut hasn't done anything to prove he should be in the Warriors' starting lineup, so Ezeli should continue to see his usual amount of playing time off the bench. He's averaging 8.4 rebounds per game over his last five contests and posted his third double-double of the season Saturday against the Kings. Ezeli will allow you to pay up for some of the more expensive power forwards and scoring guards.

Center to Avoid:

Al Horford, ATL vs. OKC ($29) - Horford's rebounding numbers have been down as he's posted just four boards in three of his past four games. He's also averaging just under 12 points per game in his last five and Serge Ibaka won't help those numbers improve at all. The Hawks will need to speed things up to keep up with the Thunder, which should mean fewer touches for Horford and more three-pointers for the likes of Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver.
