FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

There are seven contests on tap for Sunday, but they are split between four early games (start times from 1:00 p.m. EST thru 5:00 p.m.) and three later games (6:00 p.m. and after). This column will highlight players from both time slots, but keep in mind that there is a separation so you'll only be able to mix-and-match within time groups.

Early Slate
1:00 p.m: Timberwolves at Nets
1:00 p.m: Trail Blazers at Heat
3:30 p.m: 76ers at Cavaliers
5:00 p.m: Bucks at Suns

Late Slate
6:00 p.m: Hawks at Magic
6:00 p.m: Kings at Raptors
8:00 p.m: Pelicans at Nuggets

Point Guard

Jameer Nelson, DEN vs. NOP ($4,500):Emmanuel Mudiay has been ruled out for Sunday's game, giving Nelson another starting opportunity. Nelson has taken advantage of his starting nods over the last week, scoring between 21.6 and 38.7 fantasy points in each of his last five games. He had 32 fantasy points Friday when he scored 15 points with six assists, five boards, a block and a steal in 33 minutes.

Michael Carter-Williams, MIL at PHX ($6,000): Carter-Williams has been playing excellent ball of late, first from his slot on the bench and more recently as a starter. He is averaging 36.3 fantasy points per game over his last four, and on Sunday faces a Suns defense that is last in the NBA at limiting production to opposing point guards.

Shooting Guard

Dwyane Wade, MIA vs. POR ($7,200): Wade has run a little hot-and-cold of late, but he is one of the few shooting guards with 40-fantasy point potential, a reasonable price and a great match-up Sunday. The Trail Blazers are 28th in the NBA at limiting production to opposing shooting guards.

DeMar DeRozan, TOR vs. SAC ($8,000): DeRozan is almost always a strong play, and he is coming off back-to-back games in which he has scored at least 30 points, dished at least four assists and grabbed four rebounds to average 44 fantasy points per game. He is facing a Kings defense that is 29th in the NBA at production allowed to opposing shooting guards.

Small Forward

Tobias Harris, ORL vs. ATL ($6,400): Harris has scored between 23.5 and 35.3 fantasy points in six of his last eight games. The exceptions were a clunker against the Cavs more than a week ago when he only played 17 minutes, and an explosive performance this Friday against the Trail Blazers. In this last outing, Harris had 25 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and three steals and showed that he is completely over the leg contusion that caused him to miss the practice after that Cavaliers game.

Al-Farouq Aminu, POR at MIA ($5,100): Aminu has been up-and-down this month, alternating between 20+ fantasy-point performances and some in the teens. He was solid in his last outing, scoring 16 points with four boards on Friday against the Magic, and Sunday he faces a Heat defense that is 23rd in the NBA at limiting production to opposing small forwards.

Power Forward

Chris Bosh, MIA v. POR ($7,100): Bosh is another player who has 40 fantasy-point potential in any given game but that has been up and down lately. He is actually coming off consecutive low performances, averaging about 20 fantasy points per game in his last two, which came against the Raptors and the Nets. Look for him to bounce back Sunday against a Trail Blazers defense that is 27th in the NBA at limiting production to opposing power forwards.

Luis Scola, TOR vs. SAC ($4,500): Scola is a hot-and-cold, calculated risk for only $4,500 on a short slate. He has scored between 24.6 and 30.0 fantasy points in four of the last six game games, but he did have two outings of 10.5 and 14.0 in that span. The two clunkers were in two of his last three games, but in his most recent outing he bounced back with 27.1 against the Heat. If he can stay in that range, he makes very good value for his price against a Kings defense that is 23rd at limiting production from opposing power forwards.

Center

Bismack Biyombo, TOR vs. SAC ($4,600): Biyombo has grabbed between 13 and 18 rebounds in each of his last three games, which has translated to fantasy point totals between 24 and 45.6 over that stretch. Bioymbo's most explosive game in that span came on Thursday when he popped for eight points, 18 boards and seven blocks.

Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN at BKN ($7,000): Towns still gets the occasional "rest" game from coach Sam Mitchell when he plays 24 minutes or less, but he continues to produce overall. He has scored between 29 and 48.3 fantasy points in six of his last eight games, and even in the two exceptions he averaged 20.9 in 21 minutes. On Sunday, he has a solid matchup against a Nets frontline that is 23rd in the NBA in production allowed to opposing centers.
